Road Trip!!
for those of you who didn't know, my brother (Jono) was recently hired by Mozilla and therefore needed to relocate from Chicago to California. I decided to help out and join him for a cross-country road trip! here's the story (with pictures!) of our crazy adventure...
march 24 - we packed up all of Jono's stuff, put it in the truck, and started our journey! there was some uneventful driving, then we spent the night at a hotel in Des Moines, Iowa. (no pictures from the first day...)
march 25 - we drove through the rest of Iowa and then Nebraska, where I got my very first speeding ticket! v.v we stopped in Laramie, Wyoming to visit Jono's friend Will. he has an awesome house with neat rocks in the backyard for climbing!
welcome to the town of Dix. I think the population was under 50.

march 26 - we finished Wyoming and spent some time hanging out in Salt Lake City, Utah with Jono's friend Austin. we ate tasty neopolitan pizza and stayed at a super tacky hotel! also, the bums in SLC are extra crazy! one woman asked me if I wanted to buy some juice from her... then she held up said "juice", which was actually apple sauce. o.O
yum.
march 27 - we woke up to a surprise snow storm, but luckily it didn't extend past the city limits. we went to see the Great Salt Lake and accidentally ended up on this weird little peninsula with a big rocky cliff on it. so of course, we climbed it! we drove through the Salt Flats, and then stopped in Reno, Nevada for dinner. We finally made it to California at some ungodly hour of the night, completely sick of driving and otherwise very grumpy, but glad to be done with it!

yeah, I'm pretty hardcore. in case you didn't know.
march 28 - we went to visit Mozilla headquarters so Jono could check in and do some paperwork and such. they have these awesome scooters to ride between buildings, and the whole place is full of toys and snacks! then we went to get the keys to Jono's new apartment and unload the truck. for our celebratory lunch, we went to In-N-Out Burger - my first time! as we were leaving, some crazy bum with a cart and overalls asked us if we wanted to race him. he said he had more to lose than we did. hmm. we unpacked the basics, then met up with some of Jono's friends for dinner and a trip to IKEA before giving in to sweet, sweet sleep.
green tea toast! it was amazingly delicious.
march 29 - we spent most of the day unpacking what was left, building IKEA furniture and making the apartment into a livable space. we drove around town a bit, went grocery shopping and then to the western-themed Fry's. it has life-size horses and cowboys and model trains all around the store, which is an odd mix with all the electronics, but none-the-less awesome! when everything was done, we went to Carl's Jr for Cap'n Crunch shakes, which seemed like they could be nothing less than amazing... but really weren't that great. :\
YATTA!!!!!
march 30 - I got on a plane and flew back home to Chicago... and went straight to work at SmartBar. oy. Lady Sovereign came in with a bunch of friends and it was awesome for a while until they trashed the place. but honestly, as great as it was to get away for a week, I missed working there. I think something is wrong with me. :P
so I'm back. let's hang out. or something.
