orange coffee

Stirring the hot coffee in front of him in a slow circular motion, Jaejoong watch as people come in and out of the café. Changmin, the owner of the café is busy as usual, fulfilling his customer’s order. Since moving to the neighborhood three months ago, Jaejoong found that the café across street of his apartment makes the best coffee. Eventually, it becomes his favorite place to hang out.

The coffee isn’t just the only reason for him to come to the café everyday without fail. There’s one certain brunette that had been his main reason.

The first time Jaejoong stepped into the café three months ago, he immediately choose a spot right below the air-conditioner and ordered a cup of coffee. It’s a habit that he enjoys the most, to drink a cup of hot steaming coffee in cold atmosphere. While waiting for his coffee, Jaejoong’s eyes darted around the café, scanning the interior design when his gaze falls on a certain guy at the opposite corner of the room.

Short-cut brunette hair, tanned healthy skin, almond-shaped eyes, caught Jaejoong’s breath. The brunette sits next to the café’s big glass window, the ray of sunshine reflecting upon his skin, making him almost glowing. Jaejoong watch as he took a sip of the orange juice in his hand whilst reading a business magazine. He can’t help but stare in daze.

The next day when Jaejoong came, the brunette was already there, sitting at the same spot, drinking orange juice. This time, Changmin is sitting with him and they’re chatting casually. They must be close to each other, Jaejoong concluded.

That is the starting point for Kim Jaejoong to stare at the brunette every single day.

Jaejoong noticed the brunette always order the same drink, orange juice. Exactly not Jaejoong’s favorite beverage.

Once, Jaejoong overheard Changmin asked the brunette to choose the color for his new curtain. Baby blue or dark blue? Jaejoong thinks baby blue is better. Yunho chose dark blue.

Once, Jaejoong held a small party at the café for one his colleagues’ birthday. It was just a small gathering, with some of his colleagues. Jaejoong loves gathering and party, he believes it can make people closer and strengthen their bond. As they were laughing and fooling around, Jaejoong noticed the brunette was frowning and glaring at their group. He watched as the brunette gets up from his seat and walk out the café, leaving his half empty orange juice. Usually the brunette never leaves until he finishes his drink. He must hate party, Jaejoong concluded.

Once, Jaejoong and Yunho ordered the same food, cheeseburger. When Jaejoong went to the sauce counter to grab for the ketchup, he noticed the brunette grab for the black pepper sauce.  They return to their seat and Jaejoong snorted when the brunette removed the pickles from his burger. Jaejoong’s burger has extra pickles.

Once, Changmin asked the brunette, 560 X 17. Without realizing, Jaejoong’s mind starts calculating. Six thousand something? Jaejoong felt a headache coming. He hates mathematics; it had always been his weakest subject since kindergarten. 9520, the brunette answered.

Once, Jaejoong overheard the brunette talking to his friends. They were planning to go have soju but the brunette refuses, saying he doesn’t like drinking and have low alcohol tolerance. Jaejoong can gulp down 5 bottles and still be sober.

Once, the café serve free blueberry muffins. Jaejoong was the happiest considering that blueberry muffin especially the one that Changmin makes is his favorite. Jaejoong ate more than five muffins that day. Every other customer has at least one, except for the brunette. Apparently, he’s allergic to blueberry.

Once, Changmin asked the brunette which one will be better for vacation. Canada or Australia? Jaejoong’s face instantly lit up at the mention of Canada. He use to read about the country; it’s always cold there, always snowing, definitely Jaejoong’s style. Yunho chose the always bright and sunny Australia.

Once, Park Yoochun walked into the café. It was crazy. A lot of fan asking for autograph and take pictures of him. Jaejoong was among them, being the drama maniac he is. The brunette was the only one calmly stays at his seat, sipping his juice. He asked Changmin about the sudden chaos. Changmin told him that that’s Park Yoochun, the main actor of Sunkyungkwan Scandal. The brunette shakes his head, saying he doesn’t like to watch drama.

Sighing, Jaejoong bring the hot steaming coffee near his nose. He sniffs at the aromatic smell of the mixture of coffee and orange juice. The citrusy goes well with the bitter and strong coffee. He come up with the recipe himself and recommended it to Changmin. Today is the first time his recipe will be put in the café’s menu, of course with the credit to him. Changmin wanted to use his name for the coffee but Jaejoong said he already decide to call it ‘orange coffee’. Simple yet straight to the point.

Jaejoong carefully sip on his coffee, all the while with his eyes fixed at café main door. He should come in a moment now.

There he is. Looking as dashing as always in a pair of black slack, dark blue shirt in match with the blue -white stripe neck tie and black vest over it; in contrast with Jaejoong’s casual black fitting t-shirt and jeans. The brunette walks confidently towards his usual spot. A waiter approaches him as soon as he takes his seat.

Jaejoong stare at the brunette’s lips movement. “Orange juice and fruit salad, extra tomato cherry please,” Jaejoong mimicked the brunette’s speech. His lips unconsciously curve into a smile as he watches the brunette smiles at the waiter in manner.

As usual, Yunho grab for one of the magazine that is placed next to his table. He flipped through the golf magazine, only looking at the picture without any other interest to read the content. He sees Changmin by the table a few feet from him, serving his customer. Yunho waves his hand slightly at his cousin and the latter smiles back at him before walking back to the kitchen.

After a few minutes, a waiter approaches him, balancing a tray on one hand. He smiles as the waiter bows politely at him before placing the tray on the table. Yunho immediately frown when he see the cup with hot steaming brownish liquid in it.

“Excuse me, I think you give me the wrong order. I ordered orange juice, not coffee.”

“Oh, actually boss asks me to serve you this drink. It’s a new drink on our menu today.” The waiter apologetically smiles.

Yunho shakes his head in disbelievement. “Aishh, that Shim Changmin. Why do I always have to be his guinea pig?” He mutters to himself. “Well, it’s fine then. Thank you.” Yunho smiles again at the waiter as he walks away.

Carefully, Yunho take the cup and bring it near his nose. Coffee had never been his favorite; he can’t take the strong smell of coffee before even taking a sip. Surprisingly, this particular coffee only has a faint smell. Somehow it smells more like orange, Yunho concluded. Interested, Yunho slowly sip the hot content.

“Wow.” He exclaims. A citrusy flavor overcomes the bitterness of the coffee, creating a perfect blend and taste.

“Changmin-ah!” Yunho shouted for his cousin who’s standing behind the counter. “Jjang! This coffee is jjang!”

Changmin grin widely. “You like it?”

“Emm~ I think I can drink your coffee now. You’re a genius, Min.”

“It wasn’t my idea.” Changmin mutter to himself. Smirking, he darted his gaze towards the raven sitting at the other corner.
Amazed, Yunho take another sip of the coffee. And another and another.

A waiter passes by his table, slipping a piece of paper on the table. Curious, Yunho take the small piece of blue note and read the neat writing on it.

Now we have one thing in common^^

Yunho chuckle.

He can’t wipe the grin off his face. Totally happy when he heard the brunette said he like his coffee. Jaejoong doesn’t care if he looks like a crazy person right now, he can’t stop giggling in joy.

Just then, he realize someone slip a piece of paper on his table. He stops giggling and look at the blue paper on his table. Isn’t this the note he gave to the brunette? He returns it?

Pouting, Jaejoong take the paper. He was about to crumple it when he see the writing at the back of the paper.

Make it two things. I like you too.

Jaejoong gasped.

“Hi.” He heard a deep voice next to him. Almost instantly, his head turn to his side. Startled as he looks at the brunette standing by his table.

“May I sit here?” The brunette flash a smile and Jaejoong almost blinded by the bright smile. The first time ever he have seen the smile up close.

Jaejoong bite his lower lips in nervousness before nodding slowly at the taller guy. He tries to fight back the blush that’s creeping on his face right now. Looks like he lost the fight as Yunho commented on his pink cheeks with a playful wink. Yunho said he looks extremely adorable and that was enough to make Jaejoong fell head over heels for him.
