The last bell rang. Loud cheering can be heard as they can finally call it a day and return home to rest after eight hours at school.
Yunho pack his bag pack, he put in the entire text book that he had just get today and zipped up the bag. When he lifts his head, he saw his cousin, Yoochun standing in front of him.
“Hey, man.” The two guys smack their knuckles together and grin at each other. “You’re ready for the try-out, dude?”
“You bet I am, man.”
“You better make on the team, Yunho. I had to cancel my date so that I can watch over you today. You don’t know how mad Junsu is at me.”
Yunho chuckles. “Come on. Let’s go.” He puts his arms around his cousin’s shoulder and drags him out of the class.
Yunho had just transfer from New York because he’s dad was promoted. His whole family moves to Seoul and today is his first day at his new school. He’s glad when his parents enroll him in the same school with Yoochun, at least he won’t get lost on his first day.
When both of them reach the school’s field, Yoochun left Yunho at the side of the field so that he can go and talk to the football coach. Yunho intended to get in the school’s football team, he use to be a quarterback back in New York, and he knows he can be one here too.
While Yoochun left him all by himself, Yunho’s eyes wander around the field. There’re a few other students who also came for the try-out. As he watches the people on field, suddenly a loud noise could be heard. Yunho look around, from one of the gates, a group of people enter the field. The noise becomes louder and audible. The look like cheerleaders, Yunho concluded.
While waiting for Yoochun, Yunho decided to watch the cheerleaders’ practice session. He went closer to the group but still keep his distance. The cheer squad starts off their routine with a loud cheer before getting on the action. Yunho silently watch them, jumping and tumbling around.
At that moment, Yunho’s eyes capture a certain raven doing a triple tumble. His mouth went awed in appreciation at the swift movement. Somehow the lad catches Yunho’s attention more than the others. His bright smiling face even whilst lifting two girls in his hands, his soft hair that falls perfectly even after a back hand tumble and somersault in the air and his energetic cheer, everything about him makes Yunho stare in daze.
“Hey.” A pat on his back brings Yunho back to reality. “Your turn now, Yunho. Do your best dude, I’ve already tell Coach Lee about you.”
Yunho smiles at his cousin. Glancing for the last time at the raven, Yunho ran along with Yoochun to the center of the field where the try-out is held.
“I knew you’re going to make it on the team. Waah! Jung Yunho~ East Seoul Academy’s quarterback. Now I’m proud to call you my cousin.” Yoochun chuckle.
“Yah.” Yunho playfully hit Yoochun on his forehead. “If I’m not on the team then you’ll never tell people I’m your cousin, huh? So that’s how you wanna play? Yah, if wasn’t because you’re the team captain, I will never call you my cousin too.”
“Good, then we’re both cousin now!”
“Whatever, dude.” Yunho laugh at his cousin’s silly act.
“Oh?” Yoochun had his eyes averted to the side of the fields. He pats Yunho on his back. “Yah, wait for me, kay.”
Yunho was about to ask the reason when Yoochun starts running towards the East gate, leaving him alone. He saw a boy with short red hair, wearing the school soccer jersey, standing by the gate. Yoochun pull him into an embrace as soon as he gets close to him. The red haired boy pecks Yoochun on his cheek before tip-toeing on his feet to capture the older guy’s lips into his.
Yunho just smile at the show of affection. He recognizes Yoochun’s boyfriend, Junsu. The boy came along with Yoochun to the airport the other day to pick up Yunho and his family when they just arrive at Seoul. Junsu is a second-year student and the school’s soccer team captain. Yunho acknowledge Junsu’s charms that had manage to turn his playboy cousin to a loyal one-man boyfriend; he respects the boy because of that.
As he watches the two love birds chatting, his eyes catch the glance of a certain black-haired cheerleader, sitting on the bench at the other side of the field. Yunho decided to get friendly with him. The raven is just sitting around while staring blankly at the open space in front of him. Though Yunho finds it amusing to watch him just like that, but still he want to get closer. When he reaches near the bench, the raven looks like he doesn’t realize Yunho’s presence. He clears his throat.
The raven turns his head towards Yunho. Yunho swear the sight in front of him is the most beautiful thing he ever laid his eyes on. Pale, fair skin, big doe-eyes, pointed nose and lips- rosy, plump lips enter Yunho’s vision and hit straight to his heart like cupid’s arrow.
“Yes?” The melodious voice enters his ears, sending shivers through his body. Yunho snaps from his daze state.
“Sorry. Hi, may I join you?”
“Yeah, sure.” The raven scoot a little bit to give some space for Yunho on the bench.
Yunho smiles as he landed his butt on the hard-wooden bench. The raven curves a slight smile at Yunho out of respect.
“So, you’re not going home yet? I mean your practice session has ended, right?”
“Nah, I’m waiting for my brother. He’s meeting his boyfriend.” The latter awkwardly smiles, not feeling comfortable talking to a stranger.
“Oh, who’s your brother?”
“Junsu. Are you new here? Cause everybody in school know me and Junsu are brothers.” He shot a questioning look at Yunho.
“Ah, yes I’m new. I just transfer here from New York, today is my first day here. I’m Yoochun’s cousin by the way, Jung Yunho.” Yunho hold out his hand for a handshake and the raven gently accept it.
“Right, you’re Yoochun’s cousin. Junsu did tell me about you the other day. I’m Jaejoong.”
“Mmm.. cool.” Yunho awkwardly said, not knowing how to responds properly.
“What’s cool?”
“Well… mmm.. your name. It’s cool. It sounds nice and it suits you.”
Jaejoong laugh at that. Yunho mentally smack himself for talking nonsense.
“So, you’re like J-E-J-U-N-G, Jejung or J-A-E-J-U-N-G, Jaejung?”
“I’m like J-A-E-J-O-O-N-G, Jaejoong.” The raven unconsciously giggles at Yunho’s weird question.
“Oh, Jaejoong. Beautiful.” He blurted.
“Huh?”
“Err… your name. It’s a beautiful name. Like I said before, it suits your pretty face.”
Jaejoong’s eyes went wide at the comment and Yunho definitely didn’t miss that shocked expression on the latter’s face. This time he smacks himself for real.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to… I mean, you’re a guy afterall, so pretty should not be the right word… I’m sor-“
“It’s okay.” Jaejoong beamed a sweet smile. “Thanks for the compliment anyway.”
“Aaa.. welcome.”
“So, you’re like Y-U-N-W-O-O, Yunwoo or-“
“I’m like Y-U-N-H-O, Yunho.”
Jaejoong grin. “Hmm.. Yun-ho. It’s cool.”
Both of them laugh at the teasing. Then, they were quiet, awkward again.
“Guess this mean you’re waiting for Yoochun, huh?” Jaejoong try to fix the odd atmosphere.
Yunho chuckle. “Yeah. Well, it’s sort of my fault that Yoochun had to cancel his date today so, I don’t mind waiting for him.”
“You’re here for the try-out?”
“Yeah. Actually, I made the team.”
“Wow! That’s great news. Congrats. What position are you in?”
“Quarterback. I used to be one back in New York and I believe I can do a good work here too.”
“Quaterback~ wow, impressive. First day at school and you already manage to secure your place as the most popular kid. You know, being on the football team, quarterback and all.”
“You think so? You must be popular yourself, I mean you are in cheer squad.”
Jaejoong just chuckle bitterly. “I’m not really that popular. Not popular at all in fact.”
“Why? Isn’t football players and cheerleaders are like on the top of the food chain?”
“Well, if you’re a girl, then you’ll be popular. Male cheerleader didn’t really gain any reputation here.”
“Is that so? I don’t think that’s fair.”
Jaejoong just smiles at Yunho’s concerned tone.
“Yo, Yunho!” Yunho turns his head to the other side, he saw Yoochun waving at him. “Let’s go, man!”
Yunho nodded and signaled him to wait.
“Jae-hyung.” Junsu came running towards Jaejoong. Grabbing Jaejoong’s hand, Junsu smile at Yunho and bowed slightly at the older guy. “Hi, Yunho-hyung.”
“Hi, Junsu.”
“Dude, come on!”
Yunho ignored his shouting cousin and averted his attention at Jaejoong. Smiling, “I need to get going now. I’ll see you around, Jaejoong.”
“Yeah, see you around.” Jaejoong waves at Yunho who already had his back at him, running towards his cousin.
“What’s that?” Yoochun ask Yunho as soon as the brunette reaches him.
“What what?”
“You like Jaejoong?”
“What?” Yunho is shocked at how well Yoochun know him.
“You definitely have the hot for him.” Yoochun chuckle. “Hey, Jae!” Yoochun suddenly shouted, gaining the raven and his brother’s attention. “Yunho’s having party at my house tomorrow night. Make sure you come and bring that cute butt over there along!”
“Yah! I heard that!”
“It was meant to be heard, honey!” Yoochun smirks, winking at his blushing boyfriend.
Jaejoong just laugh and nodded at Yoochun.
Yunho grab Yoochun by his collar. “What are you talking, man? I’m not having any party.”
“Yes, you are. My parents will not be home tomorrow so, we can have it there.”
“Chun, you know I hate party.”
“Yes, I know but can’t you see I’m trying to help you here, my dear cousin. I’m creating a chance for you to get close to him. Just held the party but that doesn’t mean you have to be at the party. When Jaejoong came, drag him somewhere dark and make out with him.”
“Aish, you sick bastard.” Yunho slap his cousin on his chest earning him a growl from the latter.
“You still love me though.”
“Jaejoong and Yunho sitting on a tree~ K.I. *mmuah**mmuah*.I.N.G.~”
“Stop it will ya. I’m trying to study here.” Jaejoong growled at Junsu’s endless teasing. Since the meeting with Yoochun and Yunho yesterday, the younger guy had been teasing him all the time.
“Eeehh, come on hyung. I know you like Yunho-hyung.”
Jaejoong shove Junsu’s face playfully. “No, I’m not and since when did he become your hyung?”
“Since he become Chunnie’s cousin.” Junsu sticks out his tongue, avoiding Jaejoong’s violent hands from hitting his face again. “I know you’re lying. You definitely like him.”
“What make you so sure?” Jaejoong close the thick algebra book in front of him and focusing his attention on the hyper red-haired sitting across him.
Junsu sneered. “Well, when you’re talking to him yesterday, you were blushing-“
“I did not!” Jaejoong unintentionally shrieked.
“Shussh!”
“Shut up!”
“Please be quiet, this is library or I’ll kick both of you out of here.”
Jaejoong turn at the librarian sitting at the counter, he bowed his head apologetically.
“Kekekeke~” Junsu giggled and Jaejoong ogled his eyes at the younger guy.
“Stop laughing. It’s your fault if we got kick out.”
“What? You’re the one who shouts in a library.”
“I was surprised and you’re the reason why.”
“Well, I’m just telling the truth. Ah, let me continue. You were definitely blushing, laughing, practically beaming the whole time you guys were talking, actually you did everything that you had never did with a stranger before. The most important thing is, you actually talk to him! You, Kim Jaejoong, talk to someone you don’t know. That is something you never do.”
The raven is silenced at Junsu’s every word. He look at Junsu who is grinning widely and he have a ‘I am right, you do like Yunho’ written on his face. Now that Junsu mention it, he realizes the truth.
Jaejoong had never been good in talking to someone he doesn’t recognize. He always avoids meeting people and going to places where he needs to mixed with new people. It’s like an allergic to him, he got suffocated and hard to breathe when he’s around strangers. But with Yunho, he can talk to him without any problem.
“So? Ok, maybe he’s… hot… handsome… nice arms… gorgeous eyes… his lips soo-“
“You’re drooling right now~”
Jaejoong quickly bring his hands up to wipe the drool on his face and indeed, he is drooling. “Aish. Even if I like him, it’s not like he likes me. Well, I’m not saying that I like him, I said ‘if I like him’. You know?”
“Yeah, hyung. I got the point. You like Yunho hyung.”
“What, no I-“
“Listen hyung. If Yunho hyung doesn’t have any feeling for you, he wouldn’t even talk to you in the first place. Look, he made the first move, right? He was the one who approached you first and start a conversation with you. Of course he has a little something something for you. Besides were there any male students who ever sit with you, and talk to you other than me, and Chunnie?”
Jaejoong shakes his head furiously. He never recalled having any male friends in school other than his brother and his brother’s boyfriend. Jaejoong knew the reason. It wasn’t because he’s a bad guy, a nerd or has any hateful attitude but it’s because he’s a cheerleader. In their eyes, a guy who is a cheerleader is not a guy.
“Right. So, Yunho definitely know you’re a cheerleader and he still talk nicely to you. Can’t you see? He likes you, hyung. Maybe he’s the guy you had been dreaming about, someone who would never judge you on the things that you do like cheerleading or stop you from doing something you like, someone who will accept you just the way you are.”
“Maybe…”
“Of course! Tonight, we’re going to the party and I want you to get him. Trust me hyung, he’s gonna love you.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Jaejoong abruptly get up from his seat, knocking off the chair on the way. “Let’s go, Su.”
“Huh? Where?”
“We need to buy new clothes for the party tonight.” Jaejoong giggle happily while Junsu immediately jump on his feet. Both the brothers ran out from the library, getting scolded from the librarian along the way for leaving the books scattered on the table.
The party is great. A lot of their schoolmates came considering that it’s a party held by the football’s new quarterback. But the owner of the party is nowhere to be seen.
Yunho stand alone at Yoochun’s house second-storey balcony while watching the party held below. Party and being in crowd is definitely not his thing. It’s the second thing Yunho hates after Yoochun’s greasiness.
Just then, a car arrives and parked outside the house gate. Yunho stares as Junsu came out from the passenger seat. The driver’s door flung open, revealing a beautiful raven. Yunho’s lips instantly curves into a smile.
Yoochun quickly greets his boyfriend when he saw him and Jaejoong walk through the gate. He pulls Junsu into a hug before giving him a light peck on the lips. Just then, Yunho who had rushed downstairs is already standing in front of them.
“Hi, Yunho-hyung.” Junsu greets him.
“Finally he shows his face. I though he’s already dead upstairs.”
Yunho ignored Yoochun’s comment, he nods slightly at Junsu before making his way towards the fidgeting raven.
“Come on, baby. Let’s leave them alone.” Yoochun gently put his arms around Junsu’s shoulder.
“I want beer~”
“No you can’t, you’re still underage.”
“Awwe~”
“You can’t have it from the bottle but from my mouth, yes.” Yoochun sleazily whispers against his boyfriend’s lips.
Junsu giggles as he hooks his arm around Yoochun’s and both of them enter the party.
Jaejoong is just standing awkwardly while Yunho stares at him. He keeps fidgeting on his feet, not knowing what to do. Somehow feeling embarrassed by Yunho’s sharp stare.
“Erm, Yunho?”
Yunho snaps into reality. “Ah, hey.”
“Hey.” Jaejoong shyly greet.
“You look… beautiful.” Yunho knows that is a wrong compliment to give to a guy but in his eyes, that is how Jaejoong look.
“Thanks. You look great yourself. Big party you have here.”
“Yeah, Yoochun invite everyone at school. Though I didn’t expect everyone will actually showed up.”
Jaejoong laugh. Yunho scratch the back of his neck, feeling nervous.
“The most popular guy in school had a party, who will not come? Everyone must want to feel a little bit of your popularity.”
“Yeah, right. Let’s go in, shall we?”
“Sure.”
Yunho lead Jaejoong into the house. Loud music blasting through the speakers, the smell of alcohol, sweats and sex fill out the room.
“This is why I hate party.” Yunho mutter to himself but it was loud enough for Jaejoong to hear it. The raven smiles and pats Yunho on his shoulder.
“I don’t feel comfortable here. Can we go somewhere quieter?”
“Are you sure? You doesn’t want to party?”
“Nah, the main reason I came here is so that I can meet you.”
“Great. Let’s go upstairs then. There’re less people there.”
“Okay.” Jaejoong held out his hand but Yunho just look at him in confusion. Rolling his eyes, Jaejoong grab for Yunho’s hand and drag him up the stairs.
They both get to the balcony. Once there, Jaejoong quickly let go of his hold on Yunho’s hand. He averted his gaze to the view, looking at the darkness in front of him from the balcony. While Yunho had his eyes everywhere except on Jaejoong.
“Why would you held a party if you hate it?” Jaejoong finally broke the silence.
“Eh? Excuse me?”
Jaejoong turn his body around, facing Yunho with his back leaning against the balcony rail. “I heard you said to yourself just now. You hate party?”
Yunho chuckle in gauche. “It was Yoochun’s idea. Not really a fan of party, I got dizzy when I’m in a crowd.”
“Oh. I’m not a fan of party too, I don’t like being in a place where I had to mixed with other people.”
“Guess we have something in common then.” Both of them laugh however the awkwardness among them is still clear. “So, if you hate party then why did you come?”
“I’ve told you. I come to meet you.” Jaejoong beam a sweet smile at Yunho making the latter stare in awed.
“Cool.” The brunette awkwardly laugh. His face burns at the heat emitting from his cheeks, all of sudden all of his blood come rushing upwards to his face.
“You’re a nice guy, Yunho. “
“I am?”
“Yeah, I mean you talk nicely to me even though you know I’m a cheerleader.”
“Wait, I don’t understand. How does me talking to you though knowing that you’re a cheerleader is making me a nice guy? Isn’t normal to talk to someone?”
“Let’s see, no one ever talk to me like you did because they hate me that I’m a cheerleader. If they ever talk to me, only harsh words like faggot, sissy, or whore will come out from their mouth. It’s like their prejudice towards male cheerleaders.”
Yunho watch as Jaejoong’s bright expression change to a dull one. The smile that decorates his face just now suddenly vanishes. His face look so bitter that it hurts Yunho so much though he doesn’t know why. Unconsciously, the brunette steps closer towards Jaejoong. He’s hand reach up to touch Jaejoong’s face gently, caressing him.
“Hey, I would never say such thing at you. Those guys don’t know how cool it is to be a cheerleader. Back in New York, I have few friends who are male cheerleaders. I know how hard it is to do all of those tumbling, jumping, rolling, whatever things you guys have, or even lifting a girl around. I mean those girls must weight around 50kilos each, you must be strong enough to toss them around.”
Jaejoong laugh at Yunho’s words. Yunho’s warm hand against his skin makes Jaejoong’s heart flutter. “They’ll be kick out of the squad if they weight 50.” Jaejoong states the fact jokingly.
“Jaejoong.” The raven lifted his face, staring straight at Yunho’s face. “I know this sounds crazy but… I would never let them call you like that again. Let me protect you.”
“Why?”
“I like you, that’s why. I don’t care if you’re a cheerleader, I like you just how you are. You’re beautiful, funny, beautiful and beautiful.”
“Yunho, you realize that you have just confessed, right?” Jaejoong asked him with wide eyes.
“Of course. I do like you. You have a problem with that?” Yunho smirk, he daringly sneaks his arms around the raven’s waist and pulled him closer to his body. Jaejoong instantly put his hands on Yunho’s broad chest, an automatic reaction to prevent himself from being pulled anymore closer. At the same time, mesmerized by the feel of hard muscles under his palms.
“I mean, are you sure about this cause I think your popularity will be gone if you’re with me.”
“Do I look like I care about being popular? Or is it just you who doesn’t like me?”
“No!” Jaejoong quickly deny, shaking his head furiously. “I mean, yes! Yes, I like you!”
Yunho laugh as he find Jaejoong look extremely adorable. “So, why can’t we be together?”
“Because… people at school will laugh at you if they found out about it. I don’t want to be the cause.” Jaejoong had his head low. Yunho heard the raven’s voice quiver, at the brink of crying.
“Hey.” Yunho put his thumb under Jaejoong’s chin, lifting his face up. He wipes the tears at the rims of Jaejoong’s eyes. “Trust me when I said I don’t care about all of that. In fact, I think everyone will be jealous at me when they found out that I’m dating the hottest guy at school. When I first saw you yesterday, I know for sure that I’m attracted to you. So, you should be proud that Jung Yunho makes the first move on you.”
Jaejoong chuckle slightly at Yunho’s jokes, he playfully slap the brunette on his chest.
“Baby, can’t you see? We’re a perfect couple. I’m a quarterback and you’re a cheerleader. We’re the perfect typical high school couple.”
The raven blushed at Yunho’s new nickname for him, he like the sound of it coming from Yunho’s lips. “Yeah, you right.” Jaejoong nodded. “If we become the King and Queen of Homecoming, it will be more perfect.” He casually jokes.
“Of course. Oh, baby wait for me here, kay.” Yunho loosen his hug around Jaejoong. The brunette sprint downstairs suddenly, leaving Jaejoong alone by the balcony.
Jaejoong cupped his face with the palm of his hands, his cheeks are hot due to embarrassment. He can’t stop from smiling every time he reminisce everything Yunho had said to him. He makes a mental note to buy the PS3 that Junsu had always wanted to thank the latter.
“Kim Jaejoong.” Startled, Jaejoong looks around him.
“Check. 1, 2, check. A a a. Kim Jaejoong, please come downstairs now.”
Yunho’s voice boomed out through the hall house from the speakers. Without any clue at what is happening downstairs, Jaejoong walked down. As soon as he arrives at the first floor, he saw everyone have their eyes on him. Some were just looking, most of them were sneering at him as if disgusted at his presence.
Jaejoong’s eyes wander around. When he catches the glance of Yunho who is standing on the stage, did his lips curve a smile. Yunho had extended his hand towards Jaejoong, inviting the latter to get on the stage. Ignoring the people around him, Jaejoong walks towards the stage and took Yunho’s hand into his.
“Guys, I have an announcement.” Yunho speaks through the microphone with Jaejoong standing next to him. “From now, Kim Jaejoong is officially my boyfriend.”
Jaejoong was shocked, he looks at Yunho with wide eyes but the brunette just wink suggestively at him.
Gasped, muttering and a lot of shocked voices could be heard from the crowd. Some of them look at Yunho as if he they just heard Yunho announces that he’s an alien.
“That’s right. If anyone and I mean anyone ever try to hurt him again, you will have to go against me. You understand?”
“Yeah, I’ll break your face if you ever disturb Jaejoong again!” Yoochun suddenly jump onto the stage.
“I’ll kill whoever hurt my brother!” Junsu stands next to Yoochun, threatening his schoolmates with a butter knife in his hand.
The crowd looks at each other; they were silenced at the threat. They definitely know not to mess with Yoochun and his boyfriend, now that the new popular quarterback is on Jaejoong’s side too, the best thing to do will be to listen to whatever they say.
Yunho smirks at their reaction. He turns to look at Jaejoong who had been quiet all the time. The raven definitely have a lot of thing in his mind at the moment, his expression clearly shows it. Yunho pull Jaejoong into an embrace, he lean down and capture the raven’s lips with his.
Jaejoong let out a surprise yelp, grabbing Yunho’s collar when he suddenly lose his balance. He can’t believe that he’s kissing someone in front of everybody at school. And he’s not just any someone, he’s his boyfriend.
“Hey, baby.” Yunho whispers against Jaejoong’s lips. “Now that everybody knows that you’re mine, no one will hurt you again.”
Jaejoong smile. “Thank you~” He claim Yunho’s lips and tighten his hold on Yunho.

When both of them reach the school’s field, Yoochun left Yunho at the side of the field so that he can go and talk to the football coach. Yunho intended to get in the school’s football team, he use to be a quarterback back in New York, and he knows he can be one here too.
While Yoochun left him all by himself, Yunho’s eyes wander around the field. There’re a few other students who also came for the try-out. As he watches the people on field, suddenly a loud noise could be heard. Yunho look around, from one of the gates, a group of people enter the field. The noise becomes louder and audible. The look like cheerleaders, Yunho concluded.
While waiting for Yoochun, Yunho decided to watch the cheerleaders’ practice session. He went closer to the group but still keep his distance. The cheer squad starts off their routine with a loud cheer before getting on the action. Yunho silently watch them, jumping and tumbling around.
At that moment, Yunho’s eyes capture a certain raven doing a triple tumble. His mouth went awed in appreciation at the swift movement. Somehow the lad catches Yunho’s attention more than the others. His bright smiling face even whilst lifting two girls in his hands, his soft hair that falls perfectly even after a back hand tumble and somersault in the air and his energetic cheer, everything about him makes Yunho stare in daze.
“Hey.” A pat on his back brings Yunho back to reality. “Your turn now, Yunho. Do your best dude, I’ve already tell Coach Lee about you.”
Yunho smiles at his cousin. Glancing for the last time at the raven, Yunho ran along with Yoochun to the center of the field where the try-out is held.
“I knew you’re going to make it on the team. Waah! Jung Yunho~ East Seoul Academy’s quarterback. Now I’m proud to call you my cousin.” Yoochun chuckle.
“Yah.” Yunho playfully hit Yoochun on his forehead. “If I’m not on the team then you’ll never tell people I’m your cousin, huh? So that’s how you wanna play? Yah, if wasn’t because you’re the team captain, I will never call you my cousin too.”
“Good, then we’re both cousin now!”
“Whatever, dude.” Yunho laugh at his cousin’s silly act.
“Oh?” Yoochun had his eyes averted to the side of the fields. He pats Yunho on his back. “Yah, wait for me, kay.”
Yunho was about to ask the reason when Yoochun starts running towards the East gate, leaving him alone. He saw a boy with short red hair, wearing the school soccer jersey, standing by the gate. Yoochun pull him into an embrace as soon as he gets close to him. The red haired boy pecks Yoochun on his cheek before tip-toeing on his feet to capture the older guy’s lips into his.
Yunho just smile at the show of affection. He recognizes Yoochun’s boyfriend, Junsu. The boy came along with Yoochun to the airport the other day to pick up Yunho and his family when they just arrive at Seoul. Junsu is a second-year student and the school’s soccer team captain. Yunho acknowledge Junsu’s charms that had manage to turn his playboy cousin to a loyal one-man boyfriend; he respects the boy because of that.
As he watches the two love birds chatting, his eyes catch the glance of a certain black-haired cheerleader, sitting on the bench at the other side of the field. Yunho decided to get friendly with him. The raven is just sitting around while staring blankly at the open space in front of him. Though Yunho finds it amusing to watch him just like that, but still he want to get closer. When he reaches near the bench, the raven looks like he doesn’t realize Yunho’s presence. He clears his throat.
The raven turns his head towards Yunho. Yunho swear the sight in front of him is the most beautiful thing he ever laid his eyes on. Pale, fair skin, big doe-eyes, pointed nose and lips- rosy, plump lips enter Yunho’s vision and hit straight to his heart like cupid’s arrow.
“Yes?” The melodious voice enters his ears, sending shivers through his body. Yunho snaps from his daze state.
“Sorry. Hi, may I join you?”
“Yeah, sure.” The raven scoot a little bit to give some space for Yunho on the bench.
Yunho smiles as he landed his butt on the hard-wooden bench. The raven curves a slight smile at Yunho out of respect.
“So, you’re not going home yet? I mean your practice session has ended, right?”
“Nah, I’m waiting for my brother. He’s meeting his boyfriend.” The latter awkwardly smiles, not feeling comfortable talking to a stranger.
“Oh, who’s your brother?”
“Junsu. Are you new here? Cause everybody in school know me and Junsu are brothers.” He shot a questioning look at Yunho.
“Ah, yes I’m new. I just transfer here from New York, today is my first day here. I’m Yoochun’s cousin by the way, Jung Yunho.” Yunho hold out his hand for a handshake and the raven gently accept it.
“Right, you’re Yoochun’s cousin. Junsu did tell me about you the other day. I’m Jaejoong.”
“Mmm.. cool.” Yunho awkwardly said, not knowing how to responds properly.
“What’s cool?”
“Well… mmm.. your name. It’s cool. It sounds nice and it suits you.”
Jaejoong laugh at that. Yunho mentally smack himself for talking nonsense.
“So, you’re like J-E-J-U-N-G, Jejung or J-A-E-J-U-N-G, Jaejung?”
“I’m like J-A-E-J-O-O-N-G, Jaejoong.” The raven unconsciously giggles at Yunho’s weird question.
“Oh, Jaejoong. Beautiful.” He blurted.
“Huh?”
“Err… your name. It’s a beautiful name. Like I said before, it suits your pretty face.”
Jaejoong’s eyes went wide at the comment and Yunho definitely didn’t miss that shocked expression on the latter’s face. This time he smacks himself for real.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to… I mean, you’re a guy afterall, so pretty should not be the right word… I’m sor-“
“It’s okay.” Jaejoong beamed a sweet smile. “Thanks for the compliment anyway.”
“Aaa.. welcome.”
“So, you’re like Y-U-N-W-O-O, Yunwoo or-“
“I’m like Y-U-N-H-O, Yunho.”
Jaejoong grin. “Hmm.. Yun-ho. It’s cool.”
Both of them laugh at the teasing. Then, they were quiet, awkward again.
“Guess this mean you’re waiting for Yoochun, huh?” Jaejoong try to fix the odd atmosphere.
Yunho chuckle. “Yeah. Well, it’s sort of my fault that Yoochun had to cancel his date today so, I don’t mind waiting for him.”
“You’re here for the try-out?”
“Yeah. Actually, I made the team.”
“Wow! That’s great news. Congrats. What position are you in?”
“Quarterback. I used to be one back in New York and I believe I can do a good work here too.”
“Quaterback~ wow, impressive. First day at school and you already manage to secure your place as the most popular kid. You know, being on the football team, quarterback and all.”
“You think so? You must be popular yourself, I mean you are in cheer squad.”
Jaejoong just chuckle bitterly. “I’m not really that popular. Not popular at all in fact.”
“Why? Isn’t football players and cheerleaders are like on the top of the food chain?”
“Well, if you’re a girl, then you’ll be popular. Male cheerleader didn’t really gain any reputation here.”
“Is that so? I don’t think that’s fair.”
Jaejoong just smiles at Yunho’s concerned tone.
“Yo, Yunho!” Yunho turns his head to the other side, he saw Yoochun waving at him. “Let’s go, man!”
Yunho nodded and signaled him to wait.
“Jae-hyung.” Junsu came running towards Jaejoong. Grabbing Jaejoong’s hand, Junsu smile at Yunho and bowed slightly at the older guy. “Hi, Yunho-hyung.”
“Hi, Junsu.”
“Dude, come on!”
Yunho ignored his shouting cousin and averted his attention at Jaejoong. Smiling, “I need to get going now. I’ll see you around, Jaejoong.”
“Yeah, see you around.” Jaejoong waves at Yunho who already had his back at him, running towards his cousin.
“What’s that?” Yoochun ask Yunho as soon as the brunette reaches him.
“What what?”
“You like Jaejoong?”
“What?” Yunho is shocked at how well Yoochun know him.
“You definitely have the hot for him.” Yoochun chuckle. “Hey, Jae!” Yoochun suddenly shouted, gaining the raven and his brother’s attention. “Yunho’s having party at my house tomorrow night. Make sure you come and bring that cute butt over there along!”
“Yah! I heard that!”
“It was meant to be heard, honey!” Yoochun smirks, winking at his blushing boyfriend.
Jaejoong just laugh and nodded at Yoochun.
Yunho grab Yoochun by his collar. “What are you talking, man? I’m not having any party.”
“Yes, you are. My parents will not be home tomorrow so, we can have it there.”
“Chun, you know I hate party.”
“Yes, I know but can’t you see I’m trying to help you here, my dear cousin. I’m creating a chance for you to get close to him. Just held the party but that doesn’t mean you have to be at the party. When Jaejoong came, drag him somewhere dark and make out with him.”
“Aish, you sick bastard.” Yunho slap his cousin on his chest earning him a growl from the latter.
“You still love me though.”
“Jaejoong and Yunho sitting on a tree~ K.I. *mmuah**mmuah*.I.N.G.~”
“Stop it will ya. I’m trying to study here.” Jaejoong growled at Junsu’s endless teasing. Since the meeting with Yoochun and Yunho yesterday, the younger guy had been teasing him all the time.
“Eeehh, come on hyung. I know you like Yunho-hyung.”
Jaejoong shove Junsu’s face playfully. “No, I’m not and since when did he become your hyung?”
“Since he become Chunnie’s cousin.” Junsu sticks out his tongue, avoiding Jaejoong’s violent hands from hitting his face again. “I know you’re lying. You definitely like him.”
“What make you so sure?” Jaejoong close the thick algebra book in front of him and focusing his attention on the hyper red-haired sitting across him.
Junsu sneered. “Well, when you’re talking to him yesterday, you were blushing-“
“I did not!” Jaejoong unintentionally shrieked.
“Shussh!”
“Shut up!”
“Please be quiet, this is library or I’ll kick both of you out of here.”
Jaejoong turn at the librarian sitting at the counter, he bowed his head apologetically.
“Kekekeke~” Junsu giggled and Jaejoong ogled his eyes at the younger guy.
“Stop laughing. It’s your fault if we got kick out.”
“What? You’re the one who shouts in a library.”
“I was surprised and you’re the reason why.”
“Well, I’m just telling the truth. Ah, let me continue. You were definitely blushing, laughing, practically beaming the whole time you guys were talking, actually you did everything that you had never did with a stranger before. The most important thing is, you actually talk to him! You, Kim Jaejoong, talk to someone you don’t know. That is something you never do.”
The raven is silenced at Junsu’s every word. He look at Junsu who is grinning widely and he have a ‘I am right, you do like Yunho’ written on his face. Now that Junsu mention it, he realizes the truth.
Jaejoong had never been good in talking to someone he doesn’t recognize. He always avoids meeting people and going to places where he needs to mixed with new people. It’s like an allergic to him, he got suffocated and hard to breathe when he’s around strangers. But with Yunho, he can talk to him without any problem.
“So? Ok, maybe he’s… hot… handsome… nice arms… gorgeous eyes… his lips soo-“
“You’re drooling right now~”
Jaejoong quickly bring his hands up to wipe the drool on his face and indeed, he is drooling. “Aish. Even if I like him, it’s not like he likes me. Well, I’m not saying that I like him, I said ‘if I like him’. You know?”
“Yeah, hyung. I got the point. You like Yunho hyung.”
“What, no I-“
“Listen hyung. If Yunho hyung doesn’t have any feeling for you, he wouldn’t even talk to you in the first place. Look, he made the first move, right? He was the one who approached you first and start a conversation with you. Of course he has a little something something for you. Besides were there any male students who ever sit with you, and talk to you other than me, and Chunnie?”
Jaejoong shakes his head furiously. He never recalled having any male friends in school other than his brother and his brother’s boyfriend. Jaejoong knew the reason. It wasn’t because he’s a bad guy, a nerd or has any hateful attitude but it’s because he’s a cheerleader. In their eyes, a guy who is a cheerleader is not a guy.
“Right. So, Yunho definitely know you’re a cheerleader and he still talk nicely to you. Can’t you see? He likes you, hyung. Maybe he’s the guy you had been dreaming about, someone who would never judge you on the things that you do like cheerleading or stop you from doing something you like, someone who will accept you just the way you are.”
“Maybe…”
“Of course! Tonight, we’re going to the party and I want you to get him. Trust me hyung, he’s gonna love you.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Jaejoong abruptly get up from his seat, knocking off the chair on the way. “Let’s go, Su.”
“Huh? Where?”
“We need to buy new clothes for the party tonight.” Jaejoong giggle happily while Junsu immediately jump on his feet. Both the brothers ran out from the library, getting scolded from the librarian along the way for leaving the books scattered on the table.
The party is great. A lot of their schoolmates came considering that it’s a party held by the football’s new quarterback. But the owner of the party is nowhere to be seen.
Yunho stand alone at Yoochun’s house second-storey balcony while watching the party held below. Party and being in crowd is definitely not his thing. It’s the second thing Yunho hates after Yoochun’s greasiness.
Just then, a car arrives and parked outside the house gate. Yunho stares as Junsu came out from the passenger seat. The driver’s door flung open, revealing a beautiful raven. Yunho’s lips instantly curves into a smile.
Yoochun quickly greets his boyfriend when he saw him and Jaejoong walk through the gate. He pulls Junsu into a hug before giving him a light peck on the lips. Just then, Yunho who had rushed downstairs is already standing in front of them.
“Hi, Yunho-hyung.” Junsu greets him.
“Finally he shows his face. I though he’s already dead upstairs.”
Yunho ignored Yoochun’s comment, he nods slightly at Junsu before making his way towards the fidgeting raven.
“Come on, baby. Let’s leave them alone.” Yoochun gently put his arms around Junsu’s shoulder.
“I want beer~”
“No you can’t, you’re still underage.”
“Awwe~”
“You can’t have it from the bottle but from my mouth, yes.” Yoochun sleazily whispers against his boyfriend’s lips.
Junsu giggles as he hooks his arm around Yoochun’s and both of them enter the party.
Jaejoong is just standing awkwardly while Yunho stares at him. He keeps fidgeting on his feet, not knowing what to do. Somehow feeling embarrassed by Yunho’s sharp stare.
“Erm, Yunho?”
Yunho snaps into reality. “Ah, hey.”
“Hey.” Jaejoong shyly greet.
“You look… beautiful.” Yunho knows that is a wrong compliment to give to a guy but in his eyes, that is how Jaejoong look.
“Thanks. You look great yourself. Big party you have here.”
“Yeah, Yoochun invite everyone at school. Though I didn’t expect everyone will actually showed up.”
Jaejoong laugh. Yunho scratch the back of his neck, feeling nervous.
“The most popular guy in school had a party, who will not come? Everyone must want to feel a little bit of your popularity.”
“Yeah, right. Let’s go in, shall we?”
“Sure.”
Yunho lead Jaejoong into the house. Loud music blasting through the speakers, the smell of alcohol, sweats and sex fill out the room.
“This is why I hate party.” Yunho mutter to himself but it was loud enough for Jaejoong to hear it. The raven smiles and pats Yunho on his shoulder.
“I don’t feel comfortable here. Can we go somewhere quieter?”
“Are you sure? You doesn’t want to party?”
“Nah, the main reason I came here is so that I can meet you.”
“Great. Let’s go upstairs then. There’re less people there.”
“Okay.” Jaejoong held out his hand but Yunho just look at him in confusion. Rolling his eyes, Jaejoong grab for Yunho’s hand and drag him up the stairs.
They both get to the balcony. Once there, Jaejoong quickly let go of his hold on Yunho’s hand. He averted his gaze to the view, looking at the darkness in front of him from the balcony. While Yunho had his eyes everywhere except on Jaejoong.
“Why would you held a party if you hate it?” Jaejoong finally broke the silence.
“Eh? Excuse me?”
Jaejoong turn his body around, facing Yunho with his back leaning against the balcony rail. “I heard you said to yourself just now. You hate party?”
Yunho chuckle in gauche. “It was Yoochun’s idea. Not really a fan of party, I got dizzy when I’m in a crowd.”
“Oh. I’m not a fan of party too, I don’t like being in a place where I had to mixed with other people.”
“Guess we have something in common then.” Both of them laugh however the awkwardness among them is still clear. “So, if you hate party then why did you come?”
“I’ve told you. I come to meet you.” Jaejoong beam a sweet smile at Yunho making the latter stare in awed.
“Cool.” The brunette awkwardly laugh. His face burns at the heat emitting from his cheeks, all of sudden all of his blood come rushing upwards to his face.
“You’re a nice guy, Yunho. “
“I am?”
“Yeah, I mean you talk nicely to me even though you know I’m a cheerleader.”
“Wait, I don’t understand. How does me talking to you though knowing that you’re a cheerleader is making me a nice guy? Isn’t normal to talk to someone?”
“Let’s see, no one ever talk to me like you did because they hate me that I’m a cheerleader. If they ever talk to me, only harsh words like faggot, sissy, or whore will come out from their mouth. It’s like their prejudice towards male cheerleaders.”
Yunho watch as Jaejoong’s bright expression change to a dull one. The smile that decorates his face just now suddenly vanishes. His face look so bitter that it hurts Yunho so much though he doesn’t know why. Unconsciously, the brunette steps closer towards Jaejoong. He’s hand reach up to touch Jaejoong’s face gently, caressing him.
“Hey, I would never say such thing at you. Those guys don’t know how cool it is to be a cheerleader. Back in New York, I have few friends who are male cheerleaders. I know how hard it is to do all of those tumbling, jumping, rolling, whatever things you guys have, or even lifting a girl around. I mean those girls must weight around 50kilos each, you must be strong enough to toss them around.”
Jaejoong laugh at Yunho’s words. Yunho’s warm hand against his skin makes Jaejoong’s heart flutter. “They’ll be kick out of the squad if they weight 50.” Jaejoong states the fact jokingly.
“Jaejoong.” The raven lifted his face, staring straight at Yunho’s face. “I know this sounds crazy but… I would never let them call you like that again. Let me protect you.”
“Why?”
“I like you, that’s why. I don’t care if you’re a cheerleader, I like you just how you are. You’re beautiful, funny, beautiful and beautiful.”
“Yunho, you realize that you have just confessed, right?” Jaejoong asked him with wide eyes.
“Of course. I do like you. You have a problem with that?” Yunho smirk, he daringly sneaks his arms around the raven’s waist and pulled him closer to his body. Jaejoong instantly put his hands on Yunho’s broad chest, an automatic reaction to prevent himself from being pulled anymore closer. At the same time, mesmerized by the feel of hard muscles under his palms.
“I mean, are you sure about this cause I think your popularity will be gone if you’re with me.”
“Do I look like I care about being popular? Or is it just you who doesn’t like me?”
“No!” Jaejoong quickly deny, shaking his head furiously. “I mean, yes! Yes, I like you!”
Yunho laugh as he find Jaejoong look extremely adorable. “So, why can’t we be together?”
“Because… people at school will laugh at you if they found out about it. I don’t want to be the cause.” Jaejoong had his head low. Yunho heard the raven’s voice quiver, at the brink of crying.
“Hey.” Yunho put his thumb under Jaejoong’s chin, lifting his face up. He wipes the tears at the rims of Jaejoong’s eyes. “Trust me when I said I don’t care about all of that. In fact, I think everyone will be jealous at me when they found out that I’m dating the hottest guy at school. When I first saw you yesterday, I know for sure that I’m attracted to you. So, you should be proud that Jung Yunho makes the first move on you.”
Jaejoong chuckle slightly at Yunho’s jokes, he playfully slap the brunette on his chest.
“Baby, can’t you see? We’re a perfect couple. I’m a quarterback and you’re a cheerleader. We’re the perfect typical high school couple.”
The raven blushed at Yunho’s new nickname for him, he like the sound of it coming from Yunho’s lips. “Yeah, you right.” Jaejoong nodded. “If we become the King and Queen of Homecoming, it will be more perfect.” He casually jokes.
“Of course. Oh, baby wait for me here, kay.” Yunho loosen his hug around Jaejoong. The brunette sprint downstairs suddenly, leaving Jaejoong alone by the balcony.
Jaejoong cupped his face with the palm of his hands, his cheeks are hot due to embarrassment. He can’t stop from smiling every time he reminisce everything Yunho had said to him. He makes a mental note to buy the PS3 that Junsu had always wanted to thank the latter.
“Kim Jaejoong.” Startled, Jaejoong looks around him.
“Check. 1, 2, check. A a a. Kim Jaejoong, please come downstairs now.”
Yunho’s voice boomed out through the hall house from the speakers. Without any clue at what is happening downstairs, Jaejoong walked down. As soon as he arrives at the first floor, he saw everyone have their eyes on him. Some were just looking, most of them were sneering at him as if disgusted at his presence.
Jaejoong’s eyes wander around. When he catches the glance of Yunho who is standing on the stage, did his lips curve a smile. Yunho had extended his hand towards Jaejoong, inviting the latter to get on the stage. Ignoring the people around him, Jaejoong walks towards the stage and took Yunho’s hand into his.
“Guys, I have an announcement.” Yunho speaks through the microphone with Jaejoong standing next to him. “From now, Kim Jaejoong is officially my boyfriend.”
Jaejoong was shocked, he looks at Yunho with wide eyes but the brunette just wink suggestively at him.
Gasped, muttering and a lot of shocked voices could be heard from the crowd. Some of them look at Yunho as if he they just heard Yunho announces that he’s an alien.
“That’s right. If anyone and I mean anyone ever try to hurt him again, you will have to go against me. You understand?”
“Yeah, I’ll break your face if you ever disturb Jaejoong again!” Yoochun suddenly jump onto the stage.
“I’ll kill whoever hurt my brother!” Junsu stands next to Yoochun, threatening his schoolmates with a butter knife in his hand.
The crowd looks at each other; they were silenced at the threat. They definitely know not to mess with Yoochun and his boyfriend, now that the new popular quarterback is on Jaejoong’s side too, the best thing to do will be to listen to whatever they say.
Yunho smirks at their reaction. He turns to look at Jaejoong who had been quiet all the time. The raven definitely have a lot of thing in his mind at the moment, his expression clearly shows it. Yunho pull Jaejoong into an embrace, he lean down and capture the raven’s lips with his.
Jaejoong let out a surprise yelp, grabbing Yunho’s collar when he suddenly lose his balance. He can’t believe that he’s kissing someone in front of everybody at school. And he’s not just any someone, he’s his boyfriend.
“Hey, baby.” Yunho whispers against Jaejoong’s lips. “Now that everybody knows that you’re mine, no one will hurt you again.”
Jaejoong smile. “Thank you~” He claim Yunho’s lips and tighten his hold on Yunho.
