holy shit

Some worker guy just fell off the roof right in front of my window. On the way down, he was panicking or something and let go of his hammer... It gets flung out of his hand, through my window, and misses my head by 2 feet! He landed on his back on solid bricks, and an ambulance just took him off.

Who says there's no excitement in programming?

I just talked to the building owner and they think he was going to be okay. He was out briefly, but when he came to they didn't want him to move because of the whole landing on his spine thing. The ambulance was more of a precaution because they wanted him to get to the hospital laying down.

Yeah, makes total sense. I always love it in movies when they try to carry around hurt people. I coudln't tell you what movie it's from, but there was an MST3K riff refering to this that went "Quick, move his spine around alot!". I always think of this when I see this happen.

However, that's just a precaution to make sure that no additional damage is caused. That doesn't mean the guy's spine wasn't already severed in the fall... :(

You just quoted about 10 people I've talked to in person around here this morning. Everyone who walks by just goes, "Whoa. Dude."

I guess it's between the workers and the building owner. Not us for sure, and that's all that matters =P

However, bad to know that the windows smash so easily :P

Yeah, the glass windows are like paper. Maybe it's because this is an "historic" building. Knowing they break so easily, it's a good thing we don't live in a hurricane-prone city. Oh, er, well, at least I don't work on the water in that city... Oh, er. Oh shi
