SMT3: Nocturne

Aug 14, 2010 14:00

I finally got a copy of SMT3: Nocturne. I'm not very far - I just finished the hospital and defeated Forneus. It's fun! But even on hard mode it's pretty easy... I guess it's because I know the Press Turn / 1 More! system back to front from all the Persona games I've been playing.

It's very cyberpunk, though. I really like the style.

I've been trying FOREVER to get it from Gamestop. I finally said fuck it and got it off Amazon.

I love Nocturne. Best Megaten game I've played. Great, innovative story and just... fun. I was enthralled the entire way through. The Amala Network side area is worth completing too, but not easy.

And don't worry, it does get harder. I think Nocturne is - by far - the hardest MegaTen game released stateside thusfar. The difficulty is greatest in the middle though; if you train/fuse the right demons along the way, you can make the end really, really, really easy.

Don't worry. It gets much harder. :p Let's see how easy you say it is when you face the Matador.

So far the bosses have been pretty straightforward. Forneus was even easier on Hard than he was on Normal...

Some of the random encounters, though... yikes! I had a random encounter with *7* baddies. And they got to act first. That scared the crap out of me. *laughs*

Yeah, the game starts out fairly easy, then in true Megaten form, the difficulty curve just shoots up.

I went into the network tunnels thing (through the cylinder) and yeah, I pretty much experienced exactly what you described - icky random battles strung together and boss fights where I just had the wrong party to start and couldn't recover after the first turn of exploited weaknesses.

It's fun when I get through it, though!
