Ahahaha, that's a mistake that an awful amount of Americans make.
I'm always quite thrown by how much of an impact strikes can have on day-to-day life because it really doesn't happen often in the U.S. I mean the biggest strike we've had in the last 10 years was from television writers. Other than that and the Air Traffic Controller's strike back in the 80s, the only ones I can think of are a few metropolitan transit strikes once every couple of years - we really don't have many trade unions in the U.S. On the other hand, every time I've been to Europe I've encountered at least one minor strike.
