A few observations on life in Seoul

1. While it is technically possible to drag one's bags through the streets to your hostel, you'll feel rather foolish doing so, as the sidewalk is frequently blocked by large utility posts, cars, and other miscellaneous obstacles ( Read more... )

You made the harrowing trek and retained your ability to type. Yay! When I watched you haul your bags to the terminal I was a little worried about how the busy streets would be.

If you get a chance, photos would be awesome. =)

Speaking of which, I think I forgot to tell you I put all our New england trip photos on flickr.

What did you get in a room upgrade?

Strangely, I can navigate NY's system. San Francisco's crazy patchwork tho - not a chance.

I'm sort of surprised about the birds considering you're in a large city.

Eh, they're just bags, I'm used to it.

Photos are up on Facebook.

Room upgrade meant I got to stay in a private room rather than the 6-person dormitory--for no extra charge! Of course, it doesn't matter now, since my friend Hye Sun helped me rent an apartment today.

Big cities have birds. Mostly pigeons and sparrows and crows, but also the screeching ones that wake you up in the morning. Should be less of a problem now, since my current apartment doesn't have windows...

Sadly, I don't think I'll have time to visit when I get back. I'll have to head directly back to Madison. If you'd like to come visit me there, though, you'd be more than welcome.

I'm arriving in the US on August 22. I'm planning on going back to Madison August 24. To see the Facebook pictures, you'd probably have to create your own Facebook account, then I'd have to add you as a friend...maybe I'll try uploading them somewhere more accessible (like Flickr) when I get the time.

Amy, what are you doing in Seoul?

Also, did you get my email about Sara? Do you have her email address? My class is finally having the dreaded reunion, it seems, and I've been asked to email her.

I don't know why, but when I realized you were in Seoul, most likely by yourself, I became very worried about you...I know you're tough as nails and smarter than the dickens, but take care of yourself.
