We had to put our cat Oscar to sleep tonight. It sucked a really whole lot. He went from looking a little under the weather this morning to yeowling in extreme pain when Jon took him to the animal ER at 6:45 this evening. Our sympathies and regrets. As you know, we're going through it too right now. It's so hard. About all I can tell myself right now is that they have better and longer and safer lives with us than they would without us.

I just read about your cat, and I am so sorry. I know we have never experienced grief like this before, and it is uniquely terrible to know that Oscar is dead now because we made the decision for him to be. At least that moment, even if he might have died soon anyway on his own.

And yes, our home is also full of ghost...and all the places he is not. All the habitual things i instinctively do at home with him in mind. Home is comforting, but also the hardest place to be.
