Why not?

Here's an interesting pairing meme for people to have a look at, I've seen a couple people on my fl do it and figured I might as well join in.

Pick six pairings you like
1. Kratos/Zelos (Tales of Symphonia)
2. Yami/Seto (Yugioh)
3. Aya/Yohji (Weiss Kreuz)
4. Hakkai/Gojyo (Saiyuki)
5. Vincent/Reeve (FF7)
6. House/Wilson (House MD)
Pick three pairings you ( Read more... )

You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them? (Kratos/Lloyd)
Lloyd has a crush on Kratos and pursues him for a while, with Kratos indulging him mostly because he doesn't know what else to do about it, until the scene at Altessa's, at which point long discussions ensue and Lloyd ends up going off with Yuan or Presea, leaving Kratos free for Zelos to pounce on or maybe to grow gradually closer with Regal.

Lol

You like Vincent/Reeve! Me too! =D

Seto/Joey just gets on my nerves so much. People who write and/or ship it, to me, have no proper sense of either of the characters involved.

*flinches* I-I'm sorry...here, maybe you could, like, explain it to me? If I could understand what people see in the possibility, maybe I'd feel differently...

And yes, Vincent/Reeve rules.

Basically, what I think is that Seto is too proud and stuckup to even think about the possibility that he could like/love Joey.
Joey, ofcourse, is either too thickheaded or he simply wouldn't believe it even if he did find out on his own. Like... "What? Could I possibly love Kaiba? N-No way! He's icky!" *trying to hide blush*

But, you mentioned a 'level of respect', and I'm not sure what you mean by that...

It's mostly that I don't think Kaiba respects Joey enough, or vice versa. With Kaiba and Yami, for example, even though they're opposites and sometimes hate each other's guts, they respect one another as duelists and as people. I don't see that between Kaiba and Joey, I never have. *shrugs* Maybe I should watch the show again and look closer...

Hahaha- what's even funnier than Harry/Snape are those ones where Snape is actually Harry's dad. All of a sudden Mr. Snarky Potions Master becomes the ultimate fatherly figure.

DDX That is so not cool. Ew, ew, ew. Who thought that was a good idea? Do they not realize that Snape's awesomeness lies in the fact that he's a complete anti-hero? Snape is awesome because he's such a complete Slytherin, the precise antithesis of the classically heroic Gryffindor. Why would you want to ruin that?

Harry/Snape is so icky. Actually, the entire Harry Potter fandom scares me so much.

I'm one of those evil Seto/Joey fans. I can understand what you're saying though. There's really only a few authors out there who can pull this off well. Grr, it pisses me off that the pairing has become so popular, cause there's so much garbage floating around.

I just hate those Yami/Hikari whatever you want to call it pairings.

If someone could explain Seto/Joey to me in a way that made sense and didn't turn Joey into an angst-bucket and/or Kaiba into a fluff-magnet, I might be able to see it better. I just hate the characterization rape that occurs in the name of 'twu wuv' all throughout fandom.

>>; I started off with Yami/Yugi, but I grew out of it when it got too fluffy and cute for me.

And yeah, most of HP fandom scares me, but there's a few gems to be found, that I've run across on people's fave lists.

Ummm, I think alot of people like to think that they have alot in common. We know that Seto has suffered abuse from Gozaboro(sp?) and it's implied that Joey had a pretty rough homelife (just so you know, I don't support that whole Joey's-dad-beats-him plot device, but it is plausible). Yeah I know, this is fodder for alot of angst, but it could be good angst if Seto and Joey could stop being so stubborn and realize that they could actually do eachother some good ( ... )

I...guess I could sort of understand that. The biggest issue for me is still that Seto doesn't seem to have a lot of respect for Joey. Joey might be willing to open up a bit even to someone he doesn't totally respect, albeit in a somewhat standoffish way...but the way I see it, Seto would have a hard time opening up to anyone even if he *did* trust and respect them. The guy managed to convince himself that he hated Mokuba, all in order to save the kid, because his brother meant more to him than anything. Anyone who can do that will have some pretty severe issues with understanding their own emotions...I'm not even sure Joey would be strong enough to help him with that, and I think Seto isn't, either.

I guess I should never claim that something is totally implausible. Seto/Joey might possibly be done well if anyone bothered to go to the effort. I suppose the real main reason I dislike the pairing is not because of the characters themselves, but because of the way fandom has abused the pairing.
