Minimum Wage: Not Just for Teens

People forget that back up until probably 1970 or so, service jobs (waiter, waitress, counter help), was not a low income job for teens, it was a CAREER that paid a relatively decent wage (in the economy of those times). When I was in school we already learned waiters in the US would rely on tipping as their salary would be very low and we should calculate 10% for average service, if the service was exceptional we should give 15% and if we would be not satisfied we should give 5%.
That was, what american tourits used to give in restaurants here, often evenmore. While common practice has been at that time just to round a bit up. Give 5 instead of 4.99
And yes - this has been the 70s and eventhe 80s. I think this changed in the 90s. New laws *sigh*
