music list and the sunshine phalanx

those who know me well know that i have a mild ocd that prompts me to compulsively make lists and wash dishes. the dishes are washed, so that leaves the list: ( (cut for the tin-ears) )

lists, ocd, music

are you listening to loney, dear at all? add to list, please.

also, the new(ish) laura viers is really good.

and i recently put some joanna newsom back in rotation, too.

miss you much.

haven't heard either, actually. i'll have to remedy that.

it took me a good while to get into joanna newsom. her vocals stand out like jeremy enigk's - very unique, and i have to be in a particular headspace to appreciate them both.

miss you too! hopefully we can make it up the coast this spring/summer.

New Recoil stuff. Album out on July 9th, Subhuman, or so everyone else says. It's all ambient and bluesy.

That Mono rekkid title is just plum merry bad ass.

i think you'd really like mono - japanese, experimental, angry.

heh heh. tell him i said hello, and that he should embrace the zen of a well-washed stack of dishes. :)

If you get the chance, you should try to see Andrew Bird live. He is absolutely amazing! And hearing that whistle in person is unbelievable.

That Andrew Weatherall is pretty awesome, eh? I actually thought of you whenever it came up in my rotation. Like, "chris would dig this." :)

i'd love to see him, but i don't know if he gets to hippie backwaters like humboldt county. i'll keep an eye out, though. we do occasionally get down to see shows in berkeley.

i really like the weatherall. he is really mercurial - changes with the times, but his sound is uniquely his own. i'm a sabres of paradise fan from the wayback, so its fun to follow his changes.
