Nursing? I really just woke up one morning and said, "Oh, duh, I'm meant to be a nurse!" I floated through a couple different jobs before that and nothing really seemed to fit. But somehow I knew that nursing was it for me. In fact, I called my mom that day and told her I knew what I wanted to do with my life, which is kind of uncharacteristic for me.
Helpfully, I ended up getting laid off not too long after, so through unemployment and school loans I was able to go to school full time and I'll be done two and a half years after I started my prereqs. Not too bad, really.
I can't really explain it -- no one in my family is a nurse, and I never knew anyone in nursing. Even when I started my program I wasn't totally sure what nurses actually did. But I knew it was what I was supposed to be doing and I haven't seriously looked back since.
Where are you moving to? Far away from me since I moved close to you? When are you moving? This week is shot for hanging out - my brother & his family are coming into town and then on Monday I'm tied up witnessing an audit til Friday... Maybe something Thanksgiving week? Like dinner on the 22nd?
I'm very proud of you and very excited for you.
And my more random question for you - what are you reading, or have you read recently for fun, not as a school requirement?
I'm moving all the way to Morgandale! I know it's a really long haul, what with that extra mile and all, but I'm sure you can find an excuse to come see me. ;) I am moving March 1st or thereabouts. Maybe sooner? Life is a little not-stable-at-all right now, so dates are tricksy things to nail down at the moment. I'm actually hoping for January, but it's all out of my hands right now. *laugh

The 22nd it is. Is it ok if I invite my boy to come along? You can bring one too, if you'd like :)
I read From the Mixed Up Files... a LONG time ago. I think of it every time I go through a museum. Some of those other titles made me chuckle. Which one of them would you recommend - keeping in mind my favorite kind of books are free ones on the kindle, and i can't remember the last book I've actually gotten around to finishing...
And I go to Morgandale every Tuesday night to visit some friends, so I'm sure every now and then I could find my way over to your neck of the development!
Of course you can bring your boy! I'd love to meet him. :) My current default boy might be busy, but I'll see if I can drag him out anyway.
"Sh*t My Dad Says" was really sweet and funny. It's also very short, so you might have an honest shot at finishing it. I got through it in an afternoon. "Figgs and Phantoms" is more of a adolescent/teen book, but I remembered it from when I was in middle school and wanted to look at it again. It's actually a really good read for an adult, and also bite-sized. "A Game of Thrones" is a brilliant fantasy novel (and they've already aired the first season of the series on HBO) but it is dense, with a huge cast of characters and a LOT of plotting to keep track of. That said, if you can fall into it and lose yourself you can easily lose hours of your day to reading. I haven't liked a fantasy book in a long time but this is really bringing me back to the genre. I don't think any of them are free, but they should all be available on Kindle.
