New to rpgs (kinda)

Yes, as the heading says "new to rpgs" and no, not rocket propelled grenades (insert joke).  I am giving a stab at Dragon Quest VIII.  The last time I played an rpg, was when I was in 6th maybe 7th grade, and I haven't actually taken on as the player in some time.  Mainly, my attention span is not conducent (sp) to most video games for long periods ( Read more... )

The Dragon Quest series is generally a quality series. It predates Final Fantasy and, in Japan at least, is considered the father of modern console RPGs. Slime products are popular ( ... )

Thanks man. Yeah, I am learning that sidequests are usually a good thing, plus it gives me the chance to build up HP and MP and experience pts. I actually skipped out on the first sidequest I was supposed to do and I prolly could have used the reward but I think I found another item of the same effect later on ( ... )

In general it's better to use healing spells than items. Often times more effective and, if have the means to keep the caster in MP, generally is more cost effective. So kudos to you.

In Final Fantasy IV ethers, the items to replenish MP, were a freaking commodity. That was rough.
