I need to bitch smack the inventor of the waiting game...

The last couple of weeks have been a series of ups and downs.  I finished student teaching right before the holidays, which was nice but also stressful because I wasn't left with much money to get gifts for freinds and family.  I was told that I would most likely have a job lined up and I was grateful for that.  I failed to realize that despite of ( Read more... )

I've always had respect for teachers, and great respect for the good ones. An admirable profession. You may not get paid much, but if you're lucky you'll inspire some young tyke who will go on to prove that the universe is actually shaped like a mobius strip and they'll make a movie about his formative years in which you'll be honored and revered and played by a then aging Denzel Washington.

Either way, more power to ya.

Thanks man. I totally agree with you. I have complete respect for the good teachers--those who are out there to inspire, and who have not fallen into a rut and simply run through the motions.

I find it VERY hard to swallow that someone who plays baseball or football (or plays any sport at all for that matter) gets paid more than I do and I'm educating today's youth. My job has much more responsibility and many more consequences for actions, yet I can barely pay my bills. It's rediculous....

I know it's terrible. Just today David Beckham signed a contract for $250,000,000.00 to play soccer in Los Angeles. It's disgusting. That's great and all, but seriously, come on. *Sigh*

Coming from a family of teachers (and mother who has worked as a waitress, secretary, nabisco merchandizer, & real estate broker in addition to teaching 8th grade)... it's never lucrative (well.... except maybe for those first few weeks of summer... hehe).

...but an admiral professional indeed.

Good call. I am taking that your mom was working in at least one if not more than the jobs you listed while she was teaching. Good for her!
