Wow! Even in a blackout, she can find her way home. She’s done it before, too many times already. the whole thing was amazing, but this line caught my eye.

Fantastic job!

Aww, thanks! I'm taking a creative writing class focused on place, so I've been trying to incorporate more details. I'm so, so glad you enjoyed. ♥

So, clearly I FAIL on the uptake. I read this when you first posted it, like, last week, but I didn't have the chance to consider it and write a thoughtful comment. I remember feeling knocked out, maybe it was all that gorgeous detail. You have a way with atmosphere that's really amazing here. And New York City is my city, and you got it.

Love how the war is mentioned but never fully explained. It's amazing how you can make something that has the power to completely overwhelm a piece so understated yet still very real. "Even in a blackout, she can find her way home. She's done it before, too many times before" is complete brilliance. It says so, so, so much with so few words. Brava.

Thank you for writing this for me.
