Aww, thanks! This was my first Law & Order: UK fic, so I'm really really glad you liked the way it turned out. ♥

I agree... very well written. I loved the non-chronological storytelling - I think it worked very well. Also, I very much enjoyed the insights into Alesha's back story and what led her to the CPS and James.

Thanks so much! It was really interesting to write in non-chronologically and to see the story develop that way (there were some things that definitely surprised me... oh the joys of writing!). A lot of Alesha's backstory comes from my mom's pet theory that the best lawyers are good at English, and then along the way I could talk books... so. ♥

Thanks for reading!!

I think she might be onto something there. English was my best subject at school and I went on to study law!

I also loved this part:

And there are no words in her mind, then. James has asked every question, made all of the clever points that had so noisily occupied the space behind her eyes.

Because I've experienced that myself. I used to work for a Judge but I'd be constantly biting my tongue, holding back questions I wished either the prosecution or defence would ask. Sadly, I did not have the benefit of someone as brilliant as James asking them all and silencing my noisy thoughts!

I think that would always be the most frustrating thing about being in court -- it annoyed me, always, when I had to watch debates in class and people were asking the exact wrong questions.
Oh well, I guess brilliance is rare? ♥

Ahh, I can't wait for tomorrow's episode!

Ahm, this is brilliant. You shouldn't have worried about the non-linear, you pulled it off brilliantly, it felt really natural. The background into Alesha was very well constructed and believable. Your prose was just fantastic, very, very, very, very good. The characterizations felt really spot on, and just combined (the plot, characterizations, and prose) it was beautiful, and I loved it. I especially liked the vignette where her Mum tells her not to shag her boss, because you're just thinking, yep she's totally going to follow that. :D

I also have to comment that I thought this line was fantastic: "Alesha can't stop formulating questions, hard questions, perfectly worded." I grew up with lawyers and know way too many pre-law students, and this is the thing that has always struck me about them. They're trained to think in that interrogative way, so that felt very realistic and in character and it almost felt like I was hit over the head with the knowledge of who I was reading about, which I liked.

Aww, thank you so much! I've been trying to expand my horizons (oh man, that kinda sounds pretentious), and I'm so glad the non-linear thing worked. And I'm so glad about the characterization, too -- this is my first L&O:UK fic, so at times I was worried nobody was quite right. A lot of episode re-watching occurred while I was writing this... ♥
I'm glad you like that line! My parents are both lawyers, and there are so many things about the lawyerly perspective that were so fun to incorporate. I think lawyers have such a fantastic attention to detail and precision, and I'm so happy that it came through.

Sorry to ramble; your comment just put such a big grin on my face! ♥
