Oh that's lovely... I did sort of wonder about the sociopath line, but passed it off as young!Sherlock being angsty. Canon Sherlock Holmes is such a textbook case of Bipolar disorder its a bit weird seeing him mislabled.
Yeah it weirded me out too, I just assumed it's how he perceives himself, rather than what he really is. I mean technically all the symptoms apply, but I still don't see it.
Knowing this take on Mycroft, Sherlock got told what he was years ago and has been molding himself to match the prediction. But he's got a Watson now, to disprove the question.
Love your observation! (And I quite agree with you about psychosomatic pain!)
Yeah, Mycroft, his parents, peers, teachers... I could almost imagine that he started fitting himself into that bidgeon hole because, well. Sometimes it's so much easier to become a lable, isn't it? And Sherlock seems like such a literal-minded guy that I can just see him going through a list of symptoms and accepting the fact that they apply to him, and ignoring the fact that he also has traits that don't fit that diagnose.
Oooo the sociopath line. I thought it was just a throwaway line too, but a lot of people have jumped onto it. Sherlock is no way a sociopath. He is more likely an obsessive personality, mild bipolar or some form of autism...If he is anything at all. My only explanation for the sociopath line is that somewhere a long the lines someone/lots of someones has told him 'sociopath' and he has obsessed over it and got stuck with it...It's easy for parents/teachers/doctors to want to label something without truly knowing all the facts, especially these days. It's like I was told 3 years ago I have depression...I was diagnosed using a ticky box sheet given to be by a nurse. I've never seen a specialist. I know I'm not just depressed, but that's the label I've been given, and sometimes it's too easy to get obsessed with that label.
Sorry. Rambling. Great fic though. Very great.
Glad to see you posted today. I was worried about you the other day and was planning on messaging you tonight if you hadn't been around *hug*
Yeah I kinda feel like either other people gave him that label, or he chose it for himself because maybe it made him feel better, to have a nice little tag to apply to himself, to stop him from feeling so stranded. Or maybe I'm romanticising :P
I'm glad you liked it though <3 I was worried it was a bit too mushy.
And thanks for your concern :> I wasn't trying to be attention-whorish, and honestly, if I manage to update LJ, even if it's something like that, it means I'm not about to go jump off a cliff or anything.
