Ethan's counts are low....Positive thoughts please!

Nov 11, 2007 01:53

We spent last night at the hospital because Ethan's hemoglobin dropped and his ANC is 600 which is really low. He has been fighting this ear infection and he has been really lethargic and pale. Yesterday his doctor missed the fact that his hemoglobin levels were dangerously low. Tried again to give him his methotrexate dose and the nurse in the ( Read more... )

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear that. You guys are in our thoughts.

It is really disconcerting that the nurse had to catch the doctor's mistake like that.

How are things going other than this? Sorry I've been incommunicado the past week or so.

Thanks for the positive thoughts and concern. I am pretty mad at the doctor, but I will try to remain calm. Getting mad is not going to change the situation or mistakes but I really do not want them to make any more mistakes like that. I will definitely be on my toes too and double check everything.

we have been extremely busy on this end (as usual).

I started a new class. I finished my computer literacy course Wednesday and am taking my first web design course. It is fun. I didn't think I would like it. It's like magick...I get to create projects with my mind and see them come to life.

Other than that, I have been working on this sabian symbol and 360 stuff and trying to work through volumes of information. I will post later on that topic though.

Oh, my God, poor Ethan.
I never had to have them so young, but I know what he's going through, at least on the transfusion end of things. It's pretty scary as an adult, but I can imagine for him, it's moreso. I have no doubts though, that his pugnacious nature wins out. He is such a strong lil man.

Really, really odd thing, it seems many of us with blood issues are down a bit, lately, from what I can see on the support boards. Hit me up on messenger, if you need to.

I didn't know that you had blood issues. It is scary but we will get through it. He is doing so much better today. He woke up raving about Christmas. He has been watching christmas movies, the old Rankin and Bass, Rudolph and the Snow monster ones...and keeps telling us he wants his tree put up and presents. Maybe I will pull out the tree early this year just for him and to lift his spirits.

Mine are pretty "Eh", really. Not a big deal, til my color goes sallow and the whites of my eyes get all piss colored. Then shit hits the fan.
I read Ethan's hemoglobin dropped and just wanted to hug the shit outta the little guy.
CVC's are a real bitch, sometimes. :(

Yes they are. Well thanks for the virtual hugs and concern. That is what happened to Ethan. His color went and his energy levels dropped. He is bouncing off the walls, so that is a great sign that he's on the road to recovery. Yes blood draws suck.
