I am so going to hell.

Forget werewolves. My next story, which will either be a comic (if my ego holds out through the regaining my weak ass skillz and learning to use a wacom tablet) or a shortish novel (80,000 words...max) with...furries. Not werecreatures...anthropomorphic animals and regular people (with a few lycanthropes thrown in to confuse things ( Read more... )

i'm never going to believe anything you say ever again. you just said "forget werewolves... my next story [will have] lycanthropes," in the same post.

A lycanthrope doesn't have to be a werewolf. :) I'm reserving werewolves for the other stuff. Maybe I should say "shapeshifters" like fox spirits.

Think the Bureaucracy of Heaven with anthropomorphic elephants and pigs in shiny, floor length satin robes as the primary bureaucrats. :)

That's right! I'm confused....(and hoping you didn't mean what you said about werewolves.)

:) Yes it was confusing: No werewolves. I hope I made up for my earlier obtuseness.

This will be he first story where "butterfly" (the romance mix) by Smile d.k. is a valid theme song.

"shapeshifters" would have been better, as pretty much every dictionary alive defines a lycanthrope as a man who can turn into a wolf, or vice versa. i, predictably, like the elephant idea.

Yeah, but those dictionaries are behind the pop lit curve, or hell, the gamer nerd curve where "lycanthropy" has been applied to other species, especially when it can be contracted, via bite.

Anyhow, I'm just picking nits at this point. Glad you like the elephants...but they are going to be officious status consciousness bastards and very mean to my poor protagonist doggie. :)

It's applied incorrectly to other species though, as the root does mean "wolf-man." I blame the 2nd ed Monstrous Compendium with its many species of "Lycanthropes."

"Therianthrope" is generically "beast-man" if you need a broader word, or shapeshifter, or whatever.

You people and your "English." But I do like "Therianthrope" and will take my castigation for the love of said word.
