Regulars

wbenetti and I have two regular places that we go for dinner. (And no, one of them is not ColdStone, as much as he'd like it to be.) The first is Aoba Japanese Restaurant in Sterling, VA. We're both huge fans of sushi, and their speed, quality, and service are perfect for a local, neighborhood sushi joint. The second place is a new one: Hamburg Doner in ( Read more... )

I love the idea of being regular at places, but I also feel obliged to try lots of restaurants. End up going to my most loved places when I get a crave, and trying new places mostly. I should do it the other way around, but the problem is that if the favorite places are wonderful, it's rare to get a crave for something else.

Currently, I think the only place I'm recognized as a regular is the medical supply that sells me blood test and injection supplies for the cat... :/

I suspect a lot of it is my personality. I like doing things I like. I don't need to try something new. Often, when I do, I think to myself, "Gosh, I wish I'd just gone to the place I liked." I'm quite a traditionalist, I suppose.

I've just been burned so many times.... like living somewhere for 5 years and then when I'm moving very far away, learning that there is god's own restaurant half a block away. So I got kind of OCD about checking for new treasures. On the other hand, when I'm really fixated on a place, I'll go there 3 times in a week without even feeling insane.

I agree with your being a regular comment. Harley and I have a fantastic Thai place we frequented almost weekly while I was pregnant. Now we go in and they sit us in the booth we love and comment on my having the baby and how cute he is.

Its such a nice feeling.

I find it interesting that there is a question of weather or not you should choose beer over pizza.

I'm guessing driving home safely might have been an issue?

I was *really* hungry. I hadn't had anything since mid-morning.

I like both Aoba and Hamburg Doner if you ever need company. ;)

I've moved houses to many times to be a regular anywhere, especially now that I no longer have an office posse to go with.

Far as moshpit shoes go, I'm of two minds. I usually wear my combat boots, because you do get trodden on a bit, but, having taken more than my fair share of flailing-crowd-surfer-kicks to the noggin*, I do appreciate it when other people wear tennis shoes. Then again, I don't crowd surf...

*In one such incident my glasses disintegrated and I spent the rest of the show holding the pieces to my face so that I could see the stage. Thankfully my brother was there, or I wouldn't even have found the pieces...
