I love Jennifer Conelly (the labyrinth, dude?) but I haven't been able to get myself to watch this movie, because I've heard it's a really weak effort. So I kind of just skimmed through the review, avoiding spoilers.
You should totally do a review of Hills Have Eyes, you know the remake with Stanford and de Ravin? I saw you mention it and it is one of those movies that really strike terror into me. Teemu doesn't find it that interesting though. Men... ;)
I tried avoiding spoilers while writing just for that reason ;) Hopefully I succeeded in that!
YEAH, after we'd watched HHE Henkka, sighed, "you and your taste..." it's become sorta infamous throw in our household, though -- whenever I wanna watch a certain movie, he first asks, "one of your movies again, eh?"
I recommend watching this one ONCE and then forgetting it completely...
really? I thought The Hills Have Eyes was one of the funniest films I've ever seen, and it started out so well and then I have no idea what happened, but I was hooting with laughter all the way through.
I'm finding horror films less easy to watch, they've all got so ridiculous over the last ten years. I blame torture porn. If all I'm watching is cardboard cut outs get killed horribly, then it's just a more adult version of being nasty to your toys. They're not real, why should I feel bad or scared when horrible things happen to them?
Japanese Dark Water scared the hell out my son as a child, to the extent that as a young adult, he still won't watch it. The short story ends differently to the movie. They escape at the end.
Me too! I mean, it was so FUNNY, but 'cause I wasn't sure how it'd go down, I was half fidgeting on my seat and the sudden appearances and stuff made me shriek (I startle easily) :D But when compared, at least it had blood and gory stuff and right kind of mood plus humor!
Perhaps I should watch the Japanese version --- and Ringu. I've seen the Ring movies, *snort*, they fall into the Dark Water category in my opinion, so....

Seen Ringu, by the same author and director?
