Oo, second time I'm doing this! The question, once again, caught my eye and got my attention and because of that, I figured it deserves an decent (although a bit short) answer.
Definitely didn't see that coming. Valkyries eh? Didn't figure you as a Scandinavian mythology kind of girl at all. I suppose it's because their religion is so... manly, I suppose. I do think valkyries are all sorts of bamf though. Beautiful women riding pegasus, immortal warriors that have the ugliest names in history. But yeah, totally kickass.
My own choice would've been sirens. I like the idea and how they are presented differently in different cultures. We have näkki (nixie), then there's the actual Greek siren, mermaids... There's just something about these water creatures that lure you in by song and beautiful appearance and then drown you and eat you.
Perhaps their religion being so manly is actually one of the reasons it fascinates me - in this case, it's about women power shining through, eh.
Ah, you and sirens. Should've known. I would have thought you'd go with some old God, though. I dunno why.
Oh, mermaids. Those are another favorite of mine. Also, I once thought of writing about nymphs which are sort of sirens, aren't they? In a way. Find them interesting, too.
