I hear you on french seams + gores! I run into that on 18th century underwear quite frequently. I wonder if some of it is, like Hallie Larkin thinks, due to the fact that we're not dealing with full selvage widths of fabric anymore, necessitating interior finishes on the seams. I suppose a GFD isn't going to involve that to begin with though. Dunno.

But I saw the pictures and it looks awesome! I think I need you to teach me that tablet weaving thing.

I am also fascinated by the tablet weaving. I detest French seams. I would much rather have a flat felled seam, but I have zero idea if they are period. I too have had the work work work work work... done! ... WTF do I do now? experience. I mainly don't let myself work that hard anymore, as it seems to negatively impact my mental health. However, I have found that reading a good book is a nice way to calm down.
