Sweet Oranges By Syrinx Rating: PG-13 Canon: Thoroughbred Summary: Wonder’s Pride will win the Breeders’ Cup. A/N: Sequel to Pomegranate. AU Pride's Last Race.
This was great. I like them getting the chance to be happy. Even when forces seem to be conspiring to ruin it, they just stay happy for this little moment in time.
I particularly liked the opening scene, too; the tone carried over really well from the previous installation.
I hope you were happy with this "redux," as it were, since it was definitely worth the effort!
Thanks! I think I am ultimately happier with this version. It's mostly the same, but I got to reconsider a few things that made the story stronger in the long run. So I'm satisfied. :)
I'm so glad the re-write worked out well in the end! This was a great story, very well put together. Just loved how they were so affectionate with each other! All the time! And in public, too! (Very unlike the Gravity series, where Ash would just freak and not admit to a thing.)
I really love how you have sort of developed a new writing style as well. It seems a little more distanced, a little more direct and brusque.. I don't know what it is, but I like it!
Thanks! I definitely wanted to try a different reaction with Ashleigh. Here she had less reason to freeze up, more reason to just do what she wants already, and I definitely wanted her to sort of draw on her rabid defense of Wonder in regards to her relationship with Brad. I think this rewrite hit more of that than the original did, so yay!
And I have no idea where this new style came from. I just sat down and started doing it out no nowhere, but I'm liking it too!
