Saber is loyal, independent, and reserved; she appears cold, but is actually suppressing her emotions. Because of her life situation, she tries to not get too attached to others (sometimes failing to do so) and avoids romantic relationships. She is very strict and stern but can be soft on people now and then. She has a knight’s pride and honour and can get very stubborn. In battle she does not hesitate and fights without mercy. She considers herself a soldier before a woman and is not embarrassed by being seen naked. Saber has a soft spot for lions, especially plush ones.
Background:
While Saber (real name: Arturia Pendragon) looks like a young adult, the truth is she has been alive since the last war (at least) Syriuci was involved in. During the previous war, her exceptional skills were recognized right away and she was inducted into the "Servants" a special task force within the military that directly serves the Emperor/Empress and is made up of the "cream of the crop". The force is very small and legendary and new members are rare. Despite being young, Saber (whose nickname comes from the fact she is currently the only living Servant in the "Saber Knight Class") proved to be the "most outstanding" and led Syriuci to victory against their invaders in the last war, becoming a war hero. Since soldiers with such skill as Servants have are rare and wars for Syriuci are even rarer, to keep these soldiers around for future wars Servants are given magic relics to grant them eternal youth and semi-immortality. Saber was no different, her magic relic being her treasured sword.
Without a war going on or predicted in the future, Saber had to find other ways to occupy her time. In the end she ended up teaching at the military academy, where she taught students like Maes Hughes, Roy Mustang and Alex Louis Armstrong. She keeps the possession of a relic that grants her eternal youth as secret (as most Servants do) making her a mysterious figure to her students. She no longer bothers to tell people her real name and instead introduces herself only as Saber.
