[.001 -- VIDEO]

[The video clicks on. It's noticeably dark in the room, yet there's movement as CLU sits down within the frame. The black suit that the program wears is lined with circuits that glow a brilliant golden hue, and the self-emitted light splashes up to illuminate the expression on his face: faint contempt, a mouth quirked down in a frown. The first ( Read more... )

[This seems familiar. You are not his brobot, but there is a definite resemblance of uniform.]

You are off the Grid. But you are on a prison ship.

There is no system beyond wardens and inmates.

[Off the Grid; CLU had gathered that much, after he'd done a quick inspection outside the room just a few moments earlier. This place was painfully devoid of the sleek, neatly polished surfaces within his Grid, and he wasn't exactly enjoying it.]

I see. I've done nothing that would necessitate my imprisonment here.

I can't be sure precisely what it is that I did. [But in his case, he did a lot. It's hard to compare against the wardens since some of them has done as much as him.] All that I can tell you is that you're here, you will receive a warden, escape is nearly impossible, and I wouldn't anticipate much improvement.

Ah. If you don't know what you've done to end up in this place either, then why are we here? [CLU's done his fair share as well, but it's not something that he'd really acknowledge.]

'Receive a warden'? Explain.

System?

[An eyebrow lifts, and CLU seems to reconsider his wording.]

Yes. What sort of place is this.

[This person has no program circuitry on them, much like the first one that responded. His next question comes after a short pause.]

You are a User?

[It seems he's looking to confirm his suspicions that it's the real world here.]

[Rinzler? Surprise crosses his face, as CLU hadn't expected this particular program to have made it out--especially after plummeting into the Sea of Simulation. Not to mention the last interaction between these two had been the repurposed program's inconvenient betrayal.

A muscle jumps in his jaw. Did that mean Tron had somehow been able to recover from his repurposed status? Or had it just been a temporary glitch? Only one way to find out.]

Rinzler. Location. [We need to talk.]

Level 1, Room 20.

[Pardon him while he scrambles a moment to prepare.]

[Some time later--after CLU's figured out his way around the Barge hallways--there are couple loud, not-so-nice knocks on Rinzler's door to announce his presence.]

Yes, this is the Barge. My designation is Chromie, I am a warden. You're in... the User world? I believe that's the right term. We are all Users.

[You've got much better sentence structure than the other two program-people. :|a]

[So he's made it out to the User's world, but ended up on a 'prison ship' as an inmate. CLU stares a moment at her, taken slightly aback by her small stature, then the smirk melts into another frown.]

User is the correct term. Perhaps, as a Warden, you can explain to me then why I'm here as a prisoner.

[And it helped all those cycles ago to listen to and learn the way Flynn, his User, spoke.]

Generally inmates are here to atone for the actions they have performed in life. I can't speak to your specific case, but your own warden will receive a file telling them all about your life and deeds.

[Atone for his actions. This is the second time something like that has been brought up, but the first time a file has been mentioned.]

Where can I find this file?

[Franklin just stares in disbelief. CLU might notice similarities between him and Jarvis, though there are enough differences that he might miss it. Such as a slightly different voice] Oh god not those outfits again. Probably a silly question, but, are you from the same place as Rinzler?

[And the program stares back at him. This person looks very familiar--almost like a certain bald-headed, sycophantic assistant program--but he can't seem to place it just yet. The accent doesn't help.]

Yes, I am.

[Stare. Stare. Stare.]

...Who are you?

[Franklin would win that staring contest. Vampires don't have to blink, after all.]

Call me Franklin if you want. But enough about me, I'm curious about you. [Why yes, he presumes you will tell him.] And this 'Grid' of yours. For instance, is there really a need for all the lights on the suits?

[This is the first User to show an interest in the Grid, and CLU takes a break from squinting intently at Franklin's familiar face to answer.] There is no light within the Grid except what's produced from the circuits on suits, or from the buildings themselves. [Or, on the rare occasion that the Portal lights up. Which hadn't really happened all that much within the last 900 cycles.]

So yes, there is a need.
