Thanks a lot, LiveJournal

Anyone else really unthrilled about the fact that ONTD is now a permanent part of their home page?

If I was at all remotely interested in ONTD, I would have joined it. I have a paid LJ account. One of the benefits of a paid account is no advertising. How is LJ shilling for a comm I don't want any different?

I miss when it showed me recent comments, so I could see them when LJ was not sending me emails.

Eh, it's the most popular trend on LiveJournal. Most users are part of a ONTD comm or a ONTD-style comm anyways. They're just pandering to the majority.

It may be the most popular comm, but it's not something I'm interested in. I'm a member of ONTD_political and ONTD_startrek and that's more than enough for me. I have never bought into celebrity gossip and whatnot, so I am not really into a tabloid-style comm. Majority or not, it's not everyone's cup of tea. So why should it be forced on people? Again, if it were relevant to our interests, we'd be members anyway.

I'm with you on that, esp since I find a lot of what ONTD does to be really really reprehensible.

LJ has had to expend so much effort to keep ONTD from crashing their entire infrastructure that they're trying to make back a little cash from ONTD ad carryover.

Then they should create an ad and target it to non-paying users. LJ has enough of them. One of the reasons I have a paid account is so I don't have to see ads.

It is ridiculous how much they pander to that comm. Purple userheads, putting half their resources into making sure ONTD doesn't crash the servers, and now this? For once, there was something in a news update that made me roll my eyes more than Frank the Goat fanfic.

Frank the Goat fanfic? I shudder to think.

In that case, I have no idea who was responsible for doing the first fill of this prompt. No idea at all.
