I don't even know where this came from, I'm supposed to be catching up on the prompt fics I owe people (not long now talcat, sorry) or even writing the sequel to Effort of Being Okay... But no, this daft thing popped into my head and started jumping up and down

Oh, wow - I love how you establish the balance right at the beginning of the fic with a sentence as simple as 'The Doctor looked disappointed, and Mycroft felt a little like he’d failed some kind of important test' - brilliant.
I also love the idea of John and Rory getting along - and Amy and Sherlock would have one gorgeous dynamic of pushing and pulling and prodding going on.

I only have one objection: short!
No, I kid. Its strength is in its shortness, you pack a lot of subtext in very few words (:

Oh, how lovely! I've read several stories where some combination of the Doctor, Amy, and Rory meet Sherlock, John, or both, but I'd never spared much thought for what any of our time travelers would think of Mycroft. I love what the Doctor says to Mycroft, both about caring and about "trying to be such a grown-up".
