If you read my journal, post a comment with a number between 1 and 2720 (the amount of songs I have in iTunes).

I'll reply and tell you what your choice was and I'll judge you based on the song you picked. Try to pick a different number to those who have posted before you.

Choose wisely, friends!

Haha, what an appropriate number for you Simon. :P

You chose: Razorlight - Which Way Is Out

My judgement: Even though they were one of those new, trendy, "next best thing" indie bands that got a lot of hype, I think Razorlight are cool. Having said that, they have some pretty average songs... but for me, Which Way Is Out is one of the stand outs on the CD. So well done Simon, you are trendy but cool!

You chose: The National Bank - I Hear The Sparrow Sing

My judgement: I don't really know much about this band... they were recommended to me by my friend Cait and I only have a few of their songs. But I really like what I've heard so far. They do this kind of atmospheric, chill out rock thing and the singer has a really nice, soft voice. I Hear The Sparrow Sing makes me smile. Nice work Bob, you are mysterious and chilled out.

You chose: The Arcade Fire - Headlights Look Like Diamonds

My judgement: The Arcade Fire are this crazy troupe of musicians... very off the wall, but unique and they make some interesting music. They get points because in one of their live videos the two percussion guys were wearing motorcycle helmets and drumming on each other's heads... how odd but cool at the same time. This song is pretty indicative of their sound, if you feel like checking them out. Congrats Aidan, you are left of centre and intriguing.

You chose: Team Sleep - Our Ride To The Refectory

My judgement: I'm kinda undecided about Team Sleep... I wanted to get really enthusiastic about them because I'm a fairly big Deftones fan and I thought it might be as easy to make the transition from Deftones to Team Sleep as it was from Tool to A Perfect Circle, but I haven't been able to get into a fair few of their songs. There are a few standouts on their CD, with this song being one of them. It's a nice song - one that I could just close my eyes and relax to. Top stuff Vic, you are soothing and dreamy.

You chose: The Smashing Pumpkins - To Sheila

My judgement: Okay, I'm gonna TRY to be unbiased because you chose a song by my (our!) favourite band... this is gonna be hard, haha. To Sheila is such a wonderful song... I think it represents the transition from Mellon Collie to Adore in a really clear way. Taking the change of direction from epic rock songs to more mellow, acoustic, beautiful songs such as this one. I think the really great thing about this song is that it's beautiful in its simplicity. It doesn't need anything flash or complex to make it a great song, it just relies on the soft guitar and Billy's words to get you through, and it works. You make me real Nath, you are uncomplicated and beautiful.
