I can't remember the last time i was this angry in regards to politics!

How can a political party that preaches such hate be so popular in a country that was founded on Nonviolence?
India, a country i admire for that fact alone, serves to disgust me at the moment. A country responsible for religious sects like Jainism, Buddhism and so many other peace based religious groups...the birthplace of Gandhi, Nehru, Ambedkar...fuck! A.R RAHMAN! how can a country responsible for such idea and people let a group like the BJP continue!? I need to know?! I read an article by my professor, and Indian scholar...on the violence in Amadabad...a city in Gujrat (btw, Gujrat was where GANDHI was from). The BJP has held the majority of the state parliment for years...THIS FACT ALONE IS ENOUGH TO MAKE ME WANT TO SCREAM.
Here is a quick summary of what the Bjp is. It is a political sister group of the Rss, which is strictly and hindu culture group (one of it's ex members is responsible for Gandhi's assassination, but we wont hold that against them). They were both created to promote Hindutva...which translates to Hinduness. It is all fine and good to have pride in your culture (and according to the VHP (religious sister group) religion), but to preach hate against an entire population because they aren't the same...that is just disgusting.
I'm jewish, and it is no secret that jews and muslims don't get along (for reasons i will never really understand...islam, judiasm and christianity are so similar) especially with the issues in Palisteine (which i'm pretty sure I'm against...but i don't know enough). However, I find myself utterly disgusted with the actions of the BJP. Thousands of muslims are beaten and killed in 2002 because of a fire in a train full of Hindutva pilgrams allegedly started by muslims (though it is believe to have been an accident) AND WHAT DO I FIND ON WIKI?!

Jafri was believed to have contacted the local police stations, MPs of the area as well as the Chief Minister Modi to save the people from the ever increasing mob. However, no police reinforcement had reached his place and the few policemen present were ineffective and unwilling to control the violent mob." Eventually he was burnt to death, along with fifty others.[38]
According to HRW in its widely-quoted report, mobs of thousands, dressed in saffron scarves and khaki shorts - and armed with swords, sophisticated explosives, and gas cylinders, were guided by voter lists and printouts of addresses of Muslim-owned properties, information obtained from the local municipal administration.[39] Muslims in Ahmedabad alleged that there were elements of planning in the violence.[40]
Fourteen people, including women and children, were killed by a mob at the Best Bakery in the town of Vadodara on the night of 1 March.[41]
On March 3, fourteen members of Bilkis Bano's family including her two-month old daughter were killed in a mob attack near Chapparwad village in Dahod district. Seven women including Bilkis Bano, then five months pregnant, were raped.[42][43][44].

Attacks on Hindus by Muslim mobs in Danilimda, Modasa, Himmatnagar, Bharuch, Sindhi Market, Bhanderi Pole, and other localities in the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat were perpetrated by Muslim mobs.[45] There was a significant loss of property.[46][47] Late in March, more than one thousand Hindus in Dariyapur and Kalupur, including 550 dalits, fled their homes to stay in makeshift shelters after being attacked by Muslims mobs.[48] According to the HRW report, over ten thousand Hindus were made homeless.[45]
Several Hindu residential areas, including Mahajan No Vaado, a fortified enclave in Muslim dominated Jamalpur, were targeted following calls for retaliation.
In the morning the mosques began announcing that Islam was in danger, that there was poison in the milk. This is their code word. We are the only Hindus here, poison here means us. The rioting lasted between 2:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.[45]
Residents were unable go to work, fearing attacks. A Hindu temple in the area was destroyed. In Himmatnagar, a young man was killed when he went to a Muslim enclave on business.[4

I Understand the wiki is certainly not a credible source, but most people learn from it, it is one of the first links that pop up when you google search anything, so i put a lot of weight into what you can read from it.
There is absolutely no mention of the THOUSANDS of muslims killed. I feel sick to my stomach...and am rather angry at all of what i've learned.
I really did admire India...despite Indra...and the Partition violence...but this...this disgusts me. in the year 2009, you would think things like this would be political rejects, like the kkk...who i'm sure have a great influence, but they certainly didn't stop a black man from becoming our president. However, the BJP is having widespread sucess in the elections that are going on in India. I want to pray that they lose, but I'm no longer sure who to pray to. I pray to the human race, please don't let such violence and hate be acceptable...this type of attitude is responsible for the Khmer Rouge, Holocaust, Rape of Nanking, Armenian Genocide, Trail of Tears FUCKING SLAVERY.
Don't let his happen...the world needs improvement, this is certainly not improvement.
