I just saw the trailer for Seventh Son

What in the hell was that? I mean, why would you do this to the Wardstone Chronicles books? It's like they only took the basic outline of the first book (The Spook's Apprentice) and then changed everything else to turn it into this generic looking fantasy action movie. At least the trailer says that it's only "inspired by the acclaimed series",

Oh dear. Yeah. As far as film-makers are concerned, everything that is dark and gritty also has to be blood-soaked and cynical - the fact that the books are the first without being the second must just not compute for them. :P

I second your recommendation of the books. Wonderful stuff. This movie... I suspect it will not do well. It looks like it's trying much too hard.

This movie reminds me more of Season of the With or Hansel and Gretel - Witch Hunters than it does the actual books. And it will probably do as well as these two movies too.

You would think that after the success of the Hunger Games they would love something like the Wardstone Chronicles to market to the male teenage demographic. I have no idea who this movie is supposed to appeal to, definitely not the fanbase of the books.
