My copy of John Dies At The End is apparently worth like $150 on the open market.

That's a lot of money for a book that is neither very old nor outstandlingly good. I mean, it was fun, but it wasn't the "To Kill a Mockingbird" of 21st century horror.

I read most of that online, and while it was engaging for a while, I didn't feel the need to buy it.

Maybe I should have! You can get a decent amount of gin fo $150.

Because I am listing books on ebay and I looked on amazon to see how much it was worth and then found out. So research ensued.

Well, if it was especially good, it probably would've been reprinted, and therefore not worth nearly as much.

They're apparently making a movie out of it; I think that has re-sparked interest in it.

In the last month, five copies have sold on eBay for between $35.17 and $56.99. There's the adage about things being worth what someone's willing to pay. ;)

Amazon Z-shops are selling "like new" used copies for $170, Amazon's selling it new for $180, and Barnes and Noble for $200. So some people must be willing to pay a lot for it.

There's a place in the UK selling them for $600. ;)
