There is a hole in the heart of man that only one thing can fill.
Do not base your beliefs, whatever they may be, on the actions of others; the actions of man - even our own - are often flawed and corrupt. Let yourself be molded, instead, by teachings that are undeniably worthy in your heart - for in all man, within our heart of hearts, the truth is already known.
It takes humility; but when one can throw away the idea that we are capable of knowing all, and instead embrace the idea that we are actually part of something much greater than us, it only brings us one step closer to the truth.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." - Matthew 7:7 So go forth and seek truth; for those who honestly seek it shall find it.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him." - John 3

There's no need for your attitude in your response to my comment. I came here in kind spirit, and I think it's only adequate that you behave the same.
Do not deny something simply because you think your reasoning is all encompassing. You've already successfully proved that you don't have the answers, and that by your own statements, every time you think you know something, you learn really don't know much of anything.
You will never understand the truth unless you open your mind to a realm of possibilities. Including the possibility that you've been wrong all along.
Don't let arrogance and self-righteousness in yourself cloud your judgment and therefore impede your search for the truth.
Don't think I wasn't a God-fearing Christian before; I was a proud member of University Presbyterian Church for the majority of my life.
Only until about a year ago did I realize that I had closed my mind to everything else.
I believe in the human spirit. I believe in the power to do good and the power to stay true to oneself and one's own ideals. I believe in life and love and happiness and the pursuit thereof.
However, I DO NOT believe that imposing my beliefs on someone else will do any good at all. Evangelism should be restricted to cheesy late-night TV infomercials and nothing else.
I do appreciate your concern, even though your anonymity is a might perplexing.
Thanks, but no thanks.

I'll go asking a ghost to solve all my problems!
Why didn't I ever think of that before?
Jesus, you saved my feeble wittle heart.
