Pensacola trip.
I have waited over a week to make this blog, and I fear that I may have already forgotten a few details. But here is what I remember.
I like that casual awkwardness that Ben and I share when we first see each other again after a while. We're both really excited, but we don't fall all over each other at first. It's a big hug, then casual chatter. But it's a huge relief when he finally hugs me again and gives me that first kiss. Then it's like we were never apart.
Ben decided he wanted to wander around in Toys 'R Us, so we did -- for an hour or more. We attacked each other with foam swords and had a duel, and we chased each other between rows of stuffed animals and pinchy claws. I used one of the claws to pinch his nipple when he wasn't expecting it and it was hilarious. Then we found the giant plastic dragon and he pretended it was attacking him. We bought bubble guns (his idea) and took them back to the hotel and had a bubble war. He covered his legs with bubbles because they don't pop on his leg hairs. And we watched TV shows we didn't care about. :)
The Sake Cafe was really cool, and Ben and I totally stuffed ourselves full of sushi and steak yakisoba and teriyaki steak. The sushi was even better than the stuff at the Tokyo. We ate until we couldn't breathe, and I had to drive us back because he was so full.
We went to the mall and saw the puppies and I fell all over myself because they were so cute. Ben promised one day he and I will have a puppy, and I was really excited. He also bought me a frozen coffee drink and charmed the woman behind the counter into giving us some free espresso beans. Ben is very charming. :) We also bought milk Pocky (delicious!) and he got me a little Domo-kun to match the big Domo-kun he bought me for Valentine's day. We held hands the whole time, and he got me a cute sticker at Hot Topic.
I had a good time at the NEX (Navy Exchange). Ben asked me if there was anything I wanted, and I told him I wanted an official Navy hoodie. So he bought me one, and it's right up there with Domo-kun in my favorite hoodies list. I also found the box set of Angelic Layer for $42 and he bought that for me as well. He got a haircut while we were there, and the line went so fast! There was a guy waiting for his friends that spotted my tattoos, and we talked about tattoos for a while. He showed me pictures of his, and got all up in my personal space before he left with his buddies. I thought it was funny. When Ben got done (within minutes) and came back over, I told him another man had been flirting with me. He just smiled and said he couldn't blame him. What a sweetie.
We had an unspoken fry eating war at a burger joint called Whataburger. We'd never done it before, but our eyes met and we narrowed them and looked at the fries, and suddenly we both grabbed one and dipped it in ketchup and shoved it into our mouths. We did this a few more times. Then, when I went to go refill our drink, he ate all the fries and hid my burger so I would think he ate everything. But I knew he hadn't eaten it somehow, and found it immediately. We had another fry war at another burger joint (I forgot the name) later that night. The guy behind the counter gave us an extra cup for free. I love how playful we are.
When Ben gets nervous, he cleans. The couple next door to us got into a huge fight, and within ten minutes the entire room was picked up, and a huge pile of change that had been sitting on the dresser was organized into quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies. I wanted to get away from the yelling, so we went driving. Ben makes me forget about bad things.
Ben always wakes up before me. I get cranky and shove him and grumble and call him names and glare at him when he wakes me up, but he just thinks it's cute and kisses my cheek. He makes me feel pretty even when my make-up is smeared and my hair isn't brushed.
He danced on the bed while I was laying down. It was...hilarious. I just wanted to watch TV. XD We also wrestled a lot, and I pushed him off the bed. He has so much energy, he loves to goof off and try new things. He reminds me of how much fun life is, and he brings out the spontaneity in me. We really mesh well, and anyone who sees us can spot that immediately.
Even after we have very serious and sometimes very upsetting conversations, I feel closer to him and nothing changes. I was afraid that because of his age and lack of dating experience that he wouldn't understand me or would be immature. I couldn't have been more wrong. Ben is just as good at being serious as he is at being silly, and that's a huge relief, because it's something that is incredibly important to me. I feel very lucky to have him.
Grossness aside, I have two research papers and a final project to come up with. Lame. At least I get a break between the end of this semester and the beginning of the Summer semester.
