Secrets Never Stay Secret For Long Part II
Sophie was laying on her bed, arms crossed behind her head, listening to the radio. As Russian Roulette by Rihanna came on, she couldn’t help the dreamy smile that crossed her face. Until recently, she’d never really understood when people said that songs are one of the best memory triggers, but now she got it. This song had been playing when she made that one decision that had changed her entire world. She smiled, thinking back over the previous months, relishing in the warmth that filled her body when she thought about her ever-evolving relationship with the gorgeous blonde she could now call her girlfriend.
Sophie felt her phone go off in her pocket. Speak of the devil she thought with a smile, knowing before she even looked at the phone that the message was from Sian.
//Hey you. I just spoke to my dad. He said it’s cool for you to stay over tomorrow night. He has to go out of town for work and said he’d feel better if i had someone staying with me, so we have the house to ourselves ; ). LY x x x//
Sophie’s scoffed quietly and quickly text back,
\\Last time you said that he nearly caught us. Are you sure this time? lol x x x\\
She hadn’t even had a chance to put the phone down before Sian’s reply came through
//Oi, don’t doubt me you = P. Besides, after today you can hardly talk can you haha x x x //
Sophie contemplated that. Not only had her older sister walked in on them this afternoon, but had it not been for both her and Sian’s ability to get dressed ridiculously quick, her parents would have found them in a rather compromising position that evening as well.
\\yeah ok, fair point lol. of course i’ll be there babe : ) want me to bring anything? x x x\\
She smiled at Sian’s reply
// just yourself : ) Goodnight Soph. I love you x x x x //
\\ love you two babes . Sweet Dreams x x x x\\
//Of course they will be sweet, i’ll be dreaming of you <3 x x x x //
Sophie lay back on her pillow, grinning unabashedly. She would never get tired of this feeling; it was as if she was floating.
When Sophie got downstairs the next morning, her Mum and Rosie were both sat at the kitchen table eating breakfast.
‘Morning Soph’ Sally said brightly, ‘what are you plans for today?’
‘Well I was hoping, if it’s ok with you and Dad, that I might go over to Sian’s later, and stay the night?’ Sophie deliberately didn’t meet Rosie’s eyes when she said this, so as to avoid blushing.
‘Sure Hun, I don’t see any problem with that. Is her dad going to be there?’ Sophie shook her head.
‘Na, that’s why I’m going over, Sian said she didn’t want to be alone in the house’ Rosie masked her giggle with a cough,
‘Yeah I bet she didn’t’ she muttered, causing Sophie to glare at her. Sally looked over at Rosie, confused and then shook her head.
‘What time you heading over there?’ Sophie shrugged.
‘I dunno, probably about 5. I’m going to work on some revision until then. That way I can take the night off’ she said, keeping her eyes on Rosie to make sure the older girl didn’t say anything else. Sally nodded.
‘Sounds like a plan Soph. Well have a good time won’t you?’ Sophie nodded and smiled, then turned to walk away, hearing Rosie taunt her from the table with,
‘Yeah, have a really good time soph.’ Sophie growled and clenched her fists as she made her way up the stairs, the sound of Rosie’s giggling following her.
The door to Sian’s house opened before Sophie could remove her finger from the doorbell.
‘You’re late’ Sian stated, her arms folded and a slight scowl on her lips. Sophie checked her watched and rolled her eyes.
‘By like 3 minutes Sian’
‘Well that is 3 minutes wasted isn’t it?’ Despite Sian’s harsh tones, Sophie could see the glint in her eyes, assuring the brunette that she was just messing with her.
‘Yeah, yeah. So you gonna let me in or what?’ Sophie asked, shifting her overnight bag slightly on her shoulder. Sian dropped the pretence and smiled, stepping aside to let her girlfriend enter. However, as soon as Sophie went to open the door to the living room, Sian grabbed her arm and manoeuvred her towards the stairs.
‘How about you go put your stuff upstairs first yeah?’ Sian said, and Sophie knew it was an order rather than a suggestion.
‘Ok...’ she said, eyeing her girlfriend with suspicion ‘I’ll be back down in a few.’ She turned to make her way up the stairs.
‘I’ll be waiting.’ Sian said, giving Sophie a light tap on the backside. Sophie shook her head slightly and let out a small laugh, then proceeded upstairs to Sian’s room.
Sian was just pouring drinks in the kitchen when she heard Sophie’s footsteps on the stairs.
‘In here Soph.’ Sian called.
‘So Sian, what’s with you acting so...’ Sian grimaced slightly when Sophie’s sentence fell short. ‘Did something explode in here?’ she heard the brunette ask in astonishment.
‘Yeah I know, turns out that cooking without making a mess? Not really my thing’ Sian said in resignation. She heard Sophie scoff lightly, then felt the taller girl’s arms wrap around her from behind. She leant back into Sophie’s familiar body, and lost herself in the comfort that was her girlfriend for a moment.
‘So,’ Sophie murmured softly in Sian’s ear ‘what’s the plan for tonight babe?’
‘You let me worry about that.’ Sian replied quietly as she turned in Sophie’s arms so that she was facing the other girl. Smiling at the inquisitive look in Sophie’s eyes, Sian wrapped her arms around Sophie’s neck and pulled her down in order to catch her in a gentle kiss, her heart fluttering as she felt Sophie smile against her lips.
