At about 1715 NZST this afternoon it started snowing in Maoribank, Upper Hutt, and continued for long enough to leave significant traces on the drive and roadway

Ahh. I'd heard rumors of snow, but out our way 'twas only hail, so I figured it was folks that can't tell the diff.

'Twas snow alright. We had about 3 hail showers interspersed with sunshine sufficient to melt the hail, then a snow shower - soft squishy stuff rather than crunchy hail...
