Answers and Apathy

Once upon a time there was a girl.  She had friends and a family and a dog and wanted to be a teacherprogrammerwriterprogrammerscientistprogrammerprogrammerprogrammer when she grew up.

And every day when she got up and went to playgroupschoolclasseswork she'd look around and have a sort of tingling feeling at the back of her neck and wonder what it was and if maybe something wasn't quite right.

And the feeling got worse and her life started to shift so she could try and find out what is the Matrix except she's not quite sure when she realized that was what the question was or that there was such a thing
as a Matrix but she knows it's important and

it's the question that drives us, Neo

but there isn't a question anymore.

She knows what the Matrix is and the answer isn't nice.  No question, nothing to drive her, just duty and plugs and whines and programs and maybe if she's lucky she'll make it through the next day.  Maybe if she's lucky Neo will still be here.  Maybe if she's lucky there'll be a day when she doesn't have to be a soldier anymore.

But there won't ever be the question again, or the ignorance that went with it.

And ignorance is bliss.
