A mental conundrum

I love the Humane Society and those of you who have known me for awhile know that I volunteered there heavily and worked many of their events for years. Now, I don't know. The same place that I adopted Mandalay from (The Humane Society) is now speaking in approval of the bill addition that would prevent anyone, for any reason, from moving a large ( Read more... )

hell- you know that's just to make sure the stupids of the earth dont mess up anymore. most people have no personal responsibilty and cant take care of themselves- so they need rules like this to keep them safe. it's SO sad- because this is the kind of thing that burns my ass.

Amen to that. Why can't people just let natural selection run its course?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like, in general, anyone who wants a snake can just mosey into a store/show that is selling them and buy one, no questions asked. And for the VAST majority, buy a baby one. With little no understanding of what is required to care for them.
People have to get licenses for their dogs and cats, why not one for any "alien" or "exotic" species of animal? Nothing extravagant, just a small $5 or 10 fee to let the government have a record that you have this animal. Require they be sold with the animal. It's not a perfect system(many people don't license the pets they have), but it's something that is a good idea. And would generate funding for state/federal government agencies dealing with the interception of illegal importations.

True enough. I agree a license would be reasonable. It wouldn't hurt as far as a lot of the larger exotics go IMHO.
