So I know this pairing is pretty much dead, and moreover the entire fandom has been experiencing steady attrition since ROTS came out, but I'm going to go ahead and make a monster of a rec post anyway. I was not involved in Star Wars fandom at the time most of these stories were written. Thus, when I went on my Kyp/Jaina kick a few months ago, the

You raise an interesting point about Jaina - she's one of my favourite characters to write about as well. I think for me, it's partially who she is, tough and capable and not afraid to speak her mind. I always identified more with tomboy characters as I was growing up, and she fit the bill perfectly. And I love writing about her relationship with Han because it's exactly the kind of relationship I never had with my own father.
Also: just as I was reading the beginning of this post, the part about Jaina and why we like to write about her, I was listening to music and the song went,
It's my life I am running from
It's my fate I am hiding from,
oh, would the Goddess speak to me?
Turns out that the rest of it isn't so appropriate, but that part really fit. :D

I know what you mean about identifying with tomboy characters. I don't think I identify with them as strongly, and anyway there is this thing about YA authors and the packaging of tomboys, you know? Not every YA author does this but enough do it that sometimes i'm turned off just because I know I'm supposed to find her sympathetic and I ... don't.
That sounds like an awesome Jaina-song.

This is Dana, aka Dantanaskywalker, under a different username. Long story.
ANYWAY! Wow. This list is phenomenal, and brings back so many memories of K/J when the fandom was . . . Well. Difficult to put into words. Lots of fantastic ficcage on this list, and for all the reasons you mentioned. I think you managed to do what I've struggled so hard with in the past, and I applaud you for it.
I was, I'll admit, really surprised to see "When The Tide Comes" on this list, 'cause it's been unfinished for a very, very loooooong time, and I'd basically forgotten about it. Now you make me want to pull it back out and sorta poke at it.
Thanks, BTW, for the review of "Deserts". That's one of my fave fics ever, and seeing the "surprisingly not crack" in there made me LOL literally.

Actually existent? Lol I think it's gotten to the point that they're going to combine the fanfiction awards for all three eras next year, because yeah, practically nobody got the requisite three nominations this time around. And as the entire fandom shrinks, K/J is one of the first pairings to go because it's never exactly been the most popular one around. I remember in the very beginning, when everything was posted to the classics board. /iwasthirteen
I'm so impressed with everything you did with KAJSU and the K/J index back in the day, and I'd never have been able to put together this post without it, and you totally deserve to be applauded for all that work.
Haha When the Tide Comes is my favorite story of yours.

I keep meaning to get the K/J fanfic archive up and running again, but I'm in the middle of moving the database to a new host, so that'll have to wait again. Now, if only I could get authors to post their stuff there, too . . .
I remember "When The Tide Comes", how much I loved writing it, but it was used as a . . . I dunno, some people used it against me a while back, so that kind of killed the fun of it for me. Maybe I'll get back to it someday. Zeth is a lot of fun to write.

I'd love to see an up and running K/J archive :) I have a story I could post there I suppose, if you let me know if & when you get it going.
