Yay you're doing NaNo! *cheers, dances a jig, etc* Loads of people do fanfic for theirs so you'll be in good company. I was almost ready to do that myself, but then inspiration struck and I finally came up with a workable plot. \o/ Sounds good though! And we can cheer each other on and all sorts! :D
Interesting quote. And very true. Thanks for sharing, even though it's not from your favourite book!
Thanks! One of the reasons I'm doing it is because I hope there being deadlines and things (there are deadlines aren't there??) can sort of motivate me to write something bigger than my usually 10,000~ fare. You should do it too! You want to be able to tell your grandkids that you did NaNo, don't you??
That's awesome about NaNo! I look forward to reading it...assuming you'll be posting it for Westeros ppl to read...which you might not, now that I think about a second time, lol. Let me rephrase: IF you decided to let me and other ASOIAF fans read it, the concept sounds great and I'd love to support you as a reader. There. :P
Lord Commander of the Kingsguard = varsity lacrosse coach... *is slain by awesome*
You're probably the only person whose favorite female character is Fanny Price. She's the least popular character in the Jane Austen fandom, I find. Most people don't understand her, so that might be the cause.
Ooh, NaNoWriMo! That's a really neat project to have. Wished I had the balls to tackle it.
I'm probably just going to do the massive sprawling Jon/Arya modernday AU that's been banging around in my head for awhile. It's basically an excuse to talk about the Stark kids going to the pound to pick out puppies. Also Jaime coaches the varsity lacrosse team?
OMG please, please, PLEASE do this. A modern day Jon/Arya! Coach Jaime! Puppies! IT'S GOT IT ALL.
are you kidding i love fanny price. mansfield park is my favorite austen hands down. i don't think much of her relationship with edmund, but fortunately the novel isn't really about that. i am just fascinated by fanny's aunts (both of them in their own way),and of course her brother and her sisters are sweethearts. i dunno, i always thought austen's protagonists were easy ... maybe not to understand, but to identify with. i'm glad we have fanny because without her we might never know how elinor dashwood turned out the way she did, so i think in that sense mansfield park is a very necessary component of austen's ouevre, even if it is probably not her best or most representative work

I haven't read Sense and Sensibility yet (I know, shame on me), but I see your point. I did enjoy Mansfield Park and I liked Fanny, but you're right that she's not easy to relate to. She's not the sort of character you can use for wish fulfillment (I'm looking at you, Lizzie Bennett).
LOL at your fandom demographics. I'd say it's 50% SanSan, 40% Dornish Orgies, and 10% Meta Love. Jon/Arya is 0%, of course. Seriously, people, spread the incest love!
P.S.: Do you know where I can find those NaNo progress thingies everyone seems to have?
