However, if you look at the two as separate stories and forget your grudge, the movie is really good. I might be biased, though, as it's been my first cinema experience, ever, and thus has made one hell of an impression on me.
The Kipling stories are not as coherent, and since they're a bunch of short stories there's not so much of a 'flow' reading them. However, making Kaa have the magic eyes and letting Mowgli leave for a girl is quite different to the animals throwing him out because they can't stand -his- piercing eyes. The demise of Shir Khan is probably nastier than Disney seems to have though would be suited for children.
Hm. I vaguely recall a pack of red dogs in the books, thinking they'd be more fitting for a Stephen King movie than a Disney one.

I remember being absolutely fascinated by Red Dog when I first read it. I should re-read it; it's been a long time.
On a very oblique tangent, I highly recommend Red Dog by Louis de Bernières!

ich selbst bin ja nicht gekommen, aber das lag an den filmen. film 2 kannt ich nicht und film 1 fehlte jegliches bedürfniss ihn zu sehen *g*
was ich mich aber gefragt hatte, warum es für 10 leute ausgelegt war, da ja gar nicht soviel gemütlich auf der couch platz haben :)

Schade das du nicht da warst. Ich habe mir zwar gedacht das Du die Filme nicht so spannend finden wuerdest, aber ich hatte gehofft die Lasagne wuerde Dich locken. ^^
