okay so jules.... on the picture of the sheet music if you scroll down to the bottom, it says copyright (w/e) 2000, so it could have been around even before then.

its hard to search for it because of the fact that the movie is so recent, all sites refer to that.  kay im off

I really think that it would say something about taking the song from somewhere else if the writers had done that.

I also think the 2000 copyright date is for the company, not necessarily the song. Though that particular song could have been written for the musical in 2000 even though it didn't go on Broadway until 2002. But I doubt it would have been available to sing before then.

Still not enough proof for me. Sorry.

also that song was welcome to the 60s, which doesn't make an argument for you can't stop the beat.
