British Airways and greedy airlines

I have booked my flights for my trip in March. Today I investigated upgrading the class of service on the Boston to London leg. Turns out, British Airways will happily upgrade the class of service, but they will happily charge you a $200+ fee to change your ticket. That on top of the change in the airfare. Airlines have been charging to change your seat for a decade or more. The fee is higher; the practice is not new. It's so infuriating.

What gets me is that they advertised online to upgrade with no fee. I didn't at the time and so was surprised when I tried about a month later with the fee. It isn't worth the cost. But the trip will be awesome, so I will survive.
