I got a disturbing call last night. A woman called me claiming to be Thelma Johnson who supposedly works for my bank. She asked me if I had lost a receipt. I said it was possible. She then told me that someone had tried to use my card to charge $388. I asked her where they had tried this. She tells me it was at Burlington Coat Factory ( Read more... )

Having a call like that would freak me out. I would want to think I would be wise to it (because I don't trust anything on the computer that asks for any personal info... besides shopping at like amazon or something) but I feel like in a daze I might have said something bad on the phone.

I was actually just being lazy. I didn't want to get up out of my nice warm cocoon of a bed. :)

Working for the government, like I do, I have gotten a ton of calls from people who have fallen victim to these kind of scams. If I wasn't working where I am I might have given them the info.

Good job on calling the mother-in-law just in case.. That sounds creepy and annoying.

I've gotten calls about stuff I'd "won" where the person supposedly giving the prize says, all you have to pay for is the shipping or tax and ask for credit card numbers. When I tell them, "sorry, I don't have a credit card." they usually hang up.

Well, we can add to that. While I was at work a guy named Kevin, claiming to be with my bank, called asking for me. When the hubby told him I was not available the guy hung up. I really hope that he calls back tonight because I am SOOOO going to mess with him. I may even mention where I work.
