I never like bands at rallies. I mean they just keep people from talking. I feel bad if I ignore the band, but it's the folks I see only 4 times a year that I want to spend time with, not some garage band that may or may not be good, much less something I'm in the mood for.
DJs are easier to deal with as you don't feel bad ignoring them, they can play under conversations, and (if the DJ is good) they're going to make sure that folks hear songs they want to hear and are in the mood for.
I say ditch the bands or keep it short and simple with 1 band or 2 tops.

doh! i'd totally take a train down if it wasn't for the fact i have an appointment that weekend to get 4 hours worth of ink drilled into the tender part of my arm.

Hey, I walked right past your corporate headquarters yesterday on the way from Artworks to that microbrewery (Legend?)! Your sign beseeching folks to curb their damn dogs cracked me the fuck up!
