Mohawk

The part in my hair has sprouted a wispy little mohawk of regrowth. It's hard to measure, but on average it seems to be 6-8cm long. Assuming that my hair grows about 15cm per year (which is Dr Google's most common estimate), this would suggest that my well-being has stabilised enough over the last 5-6 months to redirect some energy into my ( Read more... )

<3 In a much less crisis-driven mode, I made the same realization. And I have been liking my own company a lot more lately. It's a good combination, setting the limits I will go to with some friends/ just steering clear, so as to have room for more healthy friendships. Or for me. It comes along in little ways, like turning down invites or staying in rather than go out. But it makes a big difference to know it's okay to want to go home and rub my dog's belleh more than go for happy hour drinks with nice people who aren't my people. I feel like, they don't really feel the burn? There is no burn there. If I am not clicking with them, they aren't probably with me, either, and that's okay. They could use that cognitive bandwidth to focus on their priorities, too, and find people that make them feel good/helpful/productive/supported. It takes some of the freight out of the process to think that way. I am sure your blunt friend DID want you to feel better. But if they can't do stuff that facilitates that, reducing expectations is a wise ( ... )

I reckon it's human nature to hang on to people and things we no longer need or actually do us harm. Well done for letting go. It's very, very liberating.
