Clokey dokey

Yeah, been totally slack this Clovember. I blame the novel. BUT! As of about an hour an a half ago, I can't blame it any more, because the final edits are now IN. O' course, this means I'm now meant to be getting onto the promotion bandwagon, but for the moment I'm buggered, and am posting some outfits instead.

What's a salad to do when asked to run a short professional development program for four twenty-something trainee cross-cultural trainers? Why, pick her wardrobe carefully, of course! The organisation they were being trained in is non-profit, and the big boss is a white guy with dreadlocks. I judged from this that the full corporate suit could stay in the wardrobe. That said, the aim of their program was to get the trainees work in the corporate sector, so I also figured the tie-dyed dress and sandals weren't quite the ticket. What I needed was something corporate enough to give me an air of Professional Authority but light-hearted enough to issue a sly wink to Dreadlocks to say I'm with you guys, really, I'm just playing a part here. What else but a cow-print pencil skirt?

Then I decided that it was hot, but not *that* hot, not at 8 in the morning when I was planning to leave the house. So I kept the cow-print skirt with bright green theme and upgraded to a black sleeveless top and bright green blazer:

Seemed to do the trick. Small Boss, who attended, was very pleased with my efforts, as were the trainees. As for Dreadlocks, he saw me after the session, and seemed amenable enough. Hopefully more work will come of this...
