Cobwebs and rust

It's been so long since I last wrote an LJ update of any consequence (or of any sort at all) that I'm struggling to remember where I drew the boundaries on what I post here. I've always drawn my privacy lines in odd places. A lot of things most people seem to tell only to their most intimate circle are my very bread and butter. Am the Queen of TMI ( Read more... )

Thank you! It's more exciting than "fifth" sounds, as I was at the finals night, and they played excerpts of the top 5 songs in all sections. Standards were high, and practically all of the other top 5 songs had way fancier production values than mine...

Ooh, thank you for sharing, I did enjoy listening to those :D I can't decide if 'Open Up Your Eyes' or 'Wait For The Feelings To Fade' is my favourite and 'Something Blue' sounds like it should be in a musical. Congratulations!

Thank you! I'm a big fan of the guitar ballad. The one on SoundCloud is the second recording of 'Open Up Your Eyes' I had produced, with me singing... the first recording had a session singer doing vocals, and she turned what's meant to be a sad and poignant deathbed song into a jazz impro classic. I was aghast, and tried to point this out to her, but she and my producer shrugged off my feedback ("You can't sing a song like this any other way" said she)(!). Infuriating, especially as I was footing the considerable bill! I sacked that producer shortly afterward.

It'll probably find a couple of posts before you re-discover your comfort zone.

In the meantime, welcome back. Livejournal has been less of a place without you.

Thank you, O tcpip! I've been musing from time to time that I haven't seen you and caseopaya for years and now have actual time to socialise... thoughts? Am usually child-free Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights.

Saturday's are usually a great time for us. Would you like to come to the Asylum for an afternoon/evening?

Ohhh! *claps* I like those! I'm not sure which I like best. Maybe 'Something Blue?' But 'Break You Inside' is great too (on a train between London and Edinburgh? Was that your JK moment, then?).

(Also, how is it that I've never heard any of your songs until now?)

I didn't know whether you were interested in my songs, and it felt a bit self-indulgent (not to mention hard to refuse!) to ask if you wanted to hear them. I figured if you were interested enough, you'd have asked!

Note also that two of those songs were inspired by... a significant situation that led to my New, Improved Lifestyle. Was planning to perform one of them with AR, but in the light of recent developments I'm half-tempted to avoid them, at least until the dust settles...
