I knew Torri Higginson was more or less leaving and I knew what was happening with Dr Weir, but that doesn't make it easier not to miss a favourite character. I'm assuming one of two things (and will one day google so I know which) she left since her character wasn't being used or was pushed. But having Sam in there doesn't feel like a good fit for Amanda Tapping or me. I mean, if a character isn't being used because there really is little they can do with the leader of Atlantis, then you'd be brave, stupid or broke to take it on, imho. I have to admit it would sit better with me if Sam wasn't taking cheap shots at Weir's leadership every chance she gets.
But anyway, so far it is better than the first few eps of season 3 and the body count is rising by the episode! And being part replicator is kind of cool.
