Presumably, you would phrase your question differently instead of playing stupid rhetorical wordgames to humiliate the obviously somewhat confused Verizon employee.

I don't think the point was humiliation. It sounded to me like a genuine attempt to get the verizon employee to conceed the difference between .002 dollars and cents. I mean, getting them to accept the proposition that .5 dollars doesn't equal .5 cents seems like a good start on that.

1. I think they might have understood if the guy said "pennies" instead of "cents."

2. If they learned this in high school, they wouldn't be working in a Verizon phone bank.
